PAK will NOT play at a neutral venue

I just heard Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia interview on Prime TV. He told the news, PAK will not play at a neutral venue with AUS. If they do not want to come to PAK and play the series then we are not going to play it any neutral venue.

Asked why PAK played WI at a neutral venue, he said at that time we had very short time to decide so we played in Sharjah but this time we have enough time to decide either play in PAK or cancel the series.

WAY TO GO GN. SAHIB I AM WITH EM.

Good Gen Tauqeer...
They only understand thsi language..Dont wory you will have backing of ALl Asian memebers.. Keep it up.

I would like Gen Saab to take this a step further by saying that the Aussies must tour Pakistan when they are scheduled to or must bear the consequences of Pakistan cancelling their upcoming one-day appearances in Australia.

Irshad kia hay:

Hum to doobay hain sanam,
Tumhein bhi lay dobain gay

Finally, thank you Mr. Waugh for talking some sense amidst all the chaos.

Waugh - I will tour Pakistan

from AFP in Melbourne
Monday, May 20, 2002

Steve Waugh says he is willing to tour Pakistan but won’t raise the issue when he meets the Australian Cricket Board to discuss his contract on Tuesday (May 21).
Waugh said if the ACB asked him to go to troubled Pakistan he would. The question would then be what sort of side Waugh would lead. His brother Mark as well as teammates Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne and vice-captain Adam Gilchrist have all expressed grave reservations about touring Pakistan. Their reluctance to travel will probably force the ACB to rearrange its second successive series after it aborted the recent trip of Zimbabwe because of security concerns following national elections.

There has been speculation the series could be played a neutral venue in the Middle East or north Africa. Sharjah have offered to host a Test series between Australia and Pakistan.

Waugh has faith the ACB and the Pakistan Cricket Board will make the right decision, saying he would be on the plane to Pakistan if that’s what the ACB decided. “I will support whatever the board recommend,” he said. “I’m sure they (ACB) would have done their homework - and yeah, I would (go).”

The tour, scheduled for September-October, has been thrown into disarray since 14 people were killed in a bomb blast outside the Karachi hotel of the touring New Zealand team earlier this month.

Of more immediate interest to Australia’s Test captain will be his place in the one-day national team. Dropped from that team on the recent tour of South Africa, Waugh will be looking for some clarity on his one-day future. “I have a contract meeting tomorrow,” he said. “I’ll probably get a good gauge as to how they see me in regards to one day cricket and Test cricket.”

Yes, that is good news.

I say all tours should be cancelled till Pakistanis get their act together.
It would have been even more embarrassing if the 14 people who died were kiwis...

Why do we have "junglay" in all of our cricket stadiums? We should take more practical security measures and then expect other countries to visit rather than making a stadium-cum-zoos and getting offended on rejected invitations.

First of all Boss, the bomb exploded outside the hotel which was miles away from the stadium.
And Pakistan is not the first country in the world to have bomb blasts or violence going on.
Checkout Srilanka in 96, South Africa in 1993 and currently in Zimbabwe.

Hey BoSS, if Pakistan is prepared to go to Hindutvastan to play a series at the height of tension, then why should Australians cry off at the slightest excuse?

Aussies never refused to tour England when the IRA bombing campaign was at it's height. Will they refuse to tour India too?

Boss, this can happen any where, any time and any how. So why just blame Pakistani authorities?

Brother Xtreme, I don't want any aussie dead in Pak nor I want a paki dead in India and same goes for an Indian killed in Westindies (too late for that but oh well)
I think its not wise or brave to go in a country which is at a brink of war. Its never too late to be practical.

Ali_R and Umair, yes it could happen any where but it doesn't justify Pakistani authorities to take a back seat when it comes to security issues. After the return of NZ team, they should at least get foreign players in confidence by taking practical security initiatives instead of going for a tit for tat and cancelling Aussie series.
Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia's excuse of not playing in a neutral zone sounds like an after thought or an ego issue. He should have taken this stance when WI requested Sharjah venue....his excuse about 'little time to decide' doesn't cut it for me.

Pak should avoid inviting other countries till the troops back off from Pak-India border.

ciao
BoSS
p.s Humble suggestion:
Ali_R, plz use quotes and signatures wisely. Your one line is much appreicated but kinda hard to find in the 20 lines of nothing.

I see more personal than related to the topic opinion, but how can u stop this bombings and who are you to assume that Pakistani authority is sitting in the back seat in these cases?

What nonsense! That means cricket should be made national only and Pakistan should stop earning any money whatsoever, by what has been achieved in past?
Oh come on!
Look at Israel, look at Serbia, look at S.A look at even America. If that would have been the case, America would stop playing Basketball, Baseball, Football and so on.
Your argument makes no sense, even less than my "not so wisely" used quotation.
