Can they still do that? I don't think so cuz the team has been announced.

yeah they can
coz Afridi has been announced as reserve....
and Mohammad Zahid wasnt sent to colombo to pass his fitness in this test and he wasnt bowling at his full pace or line or length ....
so if anannounced player doesnt go , then Afridi should go..

we will see in couple of days....

Yeah I guess.

This is a much different team that played in the first test.
Bazid Khan injured his fingure earlier on and couldn't play or he would have scored big.
I agree Muhammad Zahid isn't in good form, but instead of Afridi we need to bring in another fast bowler to replace Wasim.
Umar Gul is said to be bowling very well, why not give him a try.

we already have lots of fast bowlers there... or atleas more then enough for these kinds of pitches... Shoaib waqar sami , arazzaq , naved hassan etc....
Afridi has been bowling very well lately and his batting is an additional bonus... Umar gul will go just as tourist if at all...

Dont worry umair... his time will come too :)

I don't think Afridi's bowling in test matches will be that effective, only in one days where you can have part time spinners like Afridi, Sehwag and Tendulkur be successful but in test matches you need real spinners and thats why I'm favoring both Saqlain and Kaneria to play in all 3 tests specially because they are playing in Colombo.
Afridi can break partnerships when the batsmans are in attacking mood but in tests batsman can play defensive.

Permit me to reverse a popular saying...

baray mian tau baray mian... chotay mian, subhan allah!

What happened to them in the second innings? Its like all of them just lost their nerve.

ps. Its kinda amusing to see how that Lankan bolwer's name is partly censored by GUPSHUP. :)

yes..I feel sorry for Lakshhitaaa ..Please pardon my extra S in his name.

Seriously Only 3 batsman in double digits..highest score 17 against bowler like Samrweera...
sucks....

well....
Afridi used to be a part time bowler but since an year or so he is the only spinner playing in pakistani oneday side and picking wickets specially against aussies... in austriala he picked 8 wickets and again in nairobe he was picking up wickets ..
and also his test match best is against austrailia in his first test ...
I agree Saqlain must play but Afridi should be in to give batting some depth too...

**Kaneria vows to stand tall before Shane Warne

KARACHI: Pakistan’s rookie leg-spinner Danish Kaneria on Tuesday said he will not be intimidated at the prospect of appearing against Australia’s legendary spinner Shane Warne in next month’s Test series.

“I know Warne is a world class leg-spinner but I will do my best to stand tall before him,” Kaneria told. Kaneria, accompanied by five other youngsters and new coach Richard Pybus, flew out to join Pakistan in Sri Lanka where they face Australia in the first of three Tests in Colombo from October 3. “I look forward to this battle and hope it establishes me as a good spinner. There will be a lot to learn from the master spinner,” he said.

The 21-year-old Hindu from Karachi has 33 wickets in eight Tests compared to Warne’s 450 wickets in 101 Tests. Tipped to be Pakistan’s “secret weapon”, Kaneria still has a lot of ground to cover. “I know I have just started my career and have a long way to go but playing against Australia will be my toughest test,” said Kaneria, who idolises former Pakistan leggy Abdul Qadir.

Among his 33 wickets, 26 have come against minnows Bangladesh in three Tests. “We are a young side but we would endeavour our best,” Daneria said. Crisis-hit Pakistan was forced to announce a young squad following senior players absences for a variety of reasons.**

I really like this bowler, I think he is going to do wonders for Pakistan.
People are counting him off by saying that he took most of his wickets against Bangladesh but then again he has only played against Bangladesh 3 times, 1 against NZ, 2 against Westindies, 2 against England.

He is yet to bowl outside the subcontinent but the kid has alot of potential.

Its funny I’m calling him a kid but he is older than me :hehe:
