Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
It was a great match and Pakistan should have won, our strategy was pathetic. We really need to have one team for ODI instead of shuffling repeatedly. If they wanted Imran in the team, they should have tried him as at six as a replacement for opener or first down. Moreover, when we have Razzaq and Asif in the bowling lineup, Shahid Nazir should have been trying instead of Rao. He would have something to hold of runs. Rana just derailed in these ODI’s; I do not think he has the mentality to execute the last over very well. The third slot for bowlers is still open. Gul, Nazir or someone else….
Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
Remember the same team got spanked 5-0 by SLA recently, so there are few positives for me in that 2-2 result. We should have done a lot better
Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
If that was the case than we can say that SL is the best team in the world because England spanked Australia last year in ODI's as well.
Pakistan beat SL in SL before this tour, SL beat England, England drew with Pakistan. So which team is better?
Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
if A > B and B > C then is C > A?
we have made cricket a mathematical problem!

Rashud Latif is suggesting that Inzi should retire from tests and conecntrate on ODIs, what do you guys think?
Rashid Latif column
By Rashid Latif
Former Pakistan captain
England did well to tie the one-day series but Pakistan’s performances convinced me that Inzamam-ul-Haq should retire from Test cricket.
The responsibility of leading the team in both Tests and one-dayers is proving a big burden for him. At his age (36) it is never easy.
In my opinion he would be better off just playing one-day matches. It would ease the pressure and allow him to give more to the team and extend his career.
He can contribute a lot more as a batsman if he is relaxed and free from the pressures of Test cricket - and the one-day team could do very well in next year’s World Cup as a result.
After the ball-tampering row at The Oval, Pakistan were under immense pressure but they emerged defiant in their first ever Twenty20 match and carried on that resilience in the opening three one-dayers.
They were in a strong position in the first one, which was rained off, and played equally tough cricket in the next two, but somehow failed to sustain it at Trent Bridge and Edgbaston.
The star of the series for Pakistan was Younis Khan. He held the batting together, and showed aggression and caution when the situation required.
He has clearly accepted the responsibility of being the backbone of the batting line-up in all forms of cricket.
Mohammad Asif also impressed me immensely - he bowled beautifully throughout the series.
Coming back from injury and performing straight away is not easy, but he confirmed he has the talent and temperament to become the world’s best pace bowler.
Shoaib Akhtar also looked impressive after a lengthy injury lay-off. He showed he has character and ability in abundance.
He missed the last game with a knee injury and Pakistan need to look after him as much as possible ahead of next year’s World Cup.
Having a good wicket-keeper batsman is crucial to any top Test or one-day team.
After his fine performances in the previous eight months, Kamran Akmal’s form was disappointing on this tour. He needs to put in plenty of hard work ahead of the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
Another problem Pakistan need to address is at the top of their batting order.
They have not managed to find a combination that works in Test or one-day cricket.
I would go for Yasir Hameed in limited-overs games, while Shoaib Malik could also be an asset - he just needs more matches to adjust to playing against the new ball.
As for England, Ian Bell continued his terrific form from the Test series. His positive approach changed the overall attitude of the English team.
Their comeback in the one-day series showed they can play aggressive cricket in Australia this winter.
If they can get some of their stars back from injury, they will be even more pumped up for that tour.

^^ WOW!!! (Holding style..) I wish I could put in a sound bite here!!!

Although radical…but Rashid might have something here…but he failed to mention who should lead the TEST side…I guess he wants us to assume it is Younis.
This is what I notice in his articles, they seem a little disjointed…like an abstract reading from a book or something…
Do you think someone re-writes his stuff for him or this is his original stuff?
Don’t jump on me thinking that I am suggesting that he can’t write…it just seems that way but for our cricketers aside from a few it is mostly hard to be a freelance writer of sorts…
Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
Sorry i don't agree with Rashid Latif. Like Aamir Soahil and Sarfraz Nawaz he's way too emotional and often gets carried away when criticising someone. I won't read too much into his comments
If anything Inzi should retire from ODIs after the WC and play as a test batsman until 2008/9. He deserves to be given the chance to become the first PAK batsman to score 10,000+ test runs.
McGrath wants to carry on playing test cricket until 2009 Ashes and he's a bowler. So I can't see why Inzi can't do the same. Inzi's form and fitness and not his age should determine when he should retire from test cricket
Just my opinion
Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
^^ agree defintely...it confirms my thoughts on his stuff...too leftist or rightist or whatever...
Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
Why should Inzi retire from tests? Yes if his form was suffered badly since he was captain of the ODI and tests then OK he should retire but this is not the case. He as an individual has still performed and having Inzi in the test team is a psycological boost for us and another big worry for any opposition
Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
Inzamam should not retire immediately but he should defiantly start the transition process. He has been the backbone for our team for about two decades and to fill his shoes is a big task for any player. I think he should start picking important games and give Faisal Iqbal the chance to settle in and get use to playing with Younis and Yousuf.
Rest I agree with Rashid, I think he should also make an effort and teach some of his skills to Kamran Akmal.
