Re: Pak V SL - Third test

asad and azhar..mashallah....

players from Karachi were kept out of the team deliberately by salman butt and gang in last 8 years or so (read salmant butt, kamran akmal, umar akmal, shoaib malik, mohamad asif, etc.) because karachites have historically refused to get involved in match fixing (basit ali, rashid latif, afridi, younis khan)..I dont recall even one player form karachi who got involved in match fixing except................kaneria!

disclaimer: absolutely no intention to make any racial comment..I am 200% punjabi myself but stating some facts...

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

Isn’t Azhar Ali from Lahore?!

Anyway, not to get into regional and cities debate, but he’s twice a player than Asad. Who in fact, is quite good too. Now, if only Azhar Ali was a few years younger, that would have been great. Still, I think now that he’s a bit established, the guy should play till 35-36 provided he keeps on improving. So, that’s some good 10 years.

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

I am pretty sure azhar is from karachi…and poor guy did not know the normal procedure for age registration in Pakistan cricket… real age minus 4! so he ended up showing his right age…my sympathies for him!

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

what makes you think that? his cricinfo profile says he was born in Lahore, has played for several teams from Lahore.

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

Pakistan will have a chance if they strech the lead to at least 250 tomorrow morning and as soon as they can. Asad is the key. He will have to lead the anchor person role here by keeping the strikes to himself and launching the attack early and swiftly.

However, more important would be the fact that our bowlers find 10 wickets before the end of day :bummer:

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

apologies ... i stand corrected on Azhar...he is from lahore...not sure why I thought he was from Karachi

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

For the first time, rain has actually made this test interesting. If the rain didnt washout the second day then this test would be one sided me thinks.

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

how many Pakistani wickets are takne by Steve Davis in these series? any idea?

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

Miandad was from Lahore?

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

Pundits are wondering whether Shafiq and Akmal should play Misbahically or aggressively.

Re: Pak V SL - Third test

now come on..miandad never did any match fixing...let me tell you who were the biggest culprits for match fixing in 90s...wasim akram, salim malik, ijaz ahmad...and we all know where they were from....
