One amazing thing is how fast the mood on G.S has changed.yesterday I saw somebody lamenting abt a pathetic performance and now all on a sudden cheers up for Pak. Great anyway… :k:
Murali and Ajanta can strike early for Lanka tomorrow and if they do and restrict Pakitan for another just 100-150,S.L still can bag the match comfortably.Even otherwise a refreshed S.L batting line up can revive their earlier performance.
@ arleitter. A true fan is who sticks with the team in good and bad. :)
Anyway, good to see batsmen taking responsibility, especially Younis. Fawad was excellent, but I'm not sure if he should be opening the innings. But he's definitely got skills.

I have stuck with this team for 40 years and aint going to change now, win or lose. :D
*It will be an important day tomorrow ... i don't think 200 odd lead can test Srilankan batsmen .... we def need more then 300 runs to even make the test match interesting .......

anything around 280 - 300 would be a good lead - good enough to defend for Pak and not put SL into an overly defensive mode.

*Remember there are still 3 days left in this test match ...
So time won't be an issue ......
n we pretty much know what Lankans are capable of......

250-300 w'd not really test Sri Lankan batsmen. They bat deep. They are unlikely to collapse again a second time and with 2 full days remaining (assuming we bat atleast all day tomorrow..) and a first test series victory at home against Pakistan in sight they can afford to cut out all unnecessary strokes and go for the target at a leisurely pace.
So Pakistan really need to score 450-500. It is still a day 3 pitch. There are no real demons in the track and if our batters bat sensibly & with discipline there is no reason why we should not be able to survive tomorrow with 9 wickets in hand
the way I'm looking at it is that Pak needs to bat until day 4 lunch or tea andgive SL enough time for them to attempt a shot at making the score. 400 is just too much to make in the last innings - may be 350ish max. Pak needs to bat calmly and sensibly.

Oh come on, look at their performance in teh first innings, the pitch is deteriorating and with our attack any lead over 200 should be defendable. Batting is our weakness not bowling. So lets not hype it out of proportion.
To win this match, Pakistan will need to bat the whole day tomorrow (adding about 270 runs) and until just before lunch on the fourth day (adding a further 50 runs). This would give Sri Lankans 5 sessions to bat, and about 350 to chase. This would be a pretty safe, winnable position for Pakistan. Chasing 350 to win in the fourth innings is almost unheard of.
