People can put it down to psychological problems, faulty technique or inability to play the new ball etc. but the fact of the matter is we don't play nearly as many test matches as the other established test nations and I am not just talking about the past 15 months in which we have played a mere 4 test matches!!
Traditionally England, Australia and India play more test matches (12-16 a year!!!) than the other nations but we don't even play as many matches as Sri Lanka. I think we play far too many one-dayers and that is the main reason why some of our batters lack discipline, temperament and patience to stay at the wicket in test matches.
