Catchis draw matchis

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

so record is still there

Rowan Morrell: “To the best of my knowledge, there has never been an instance of two New Zealanders scoring a double-century in the same Test innings. The closest we got was in 1991 when Martin Crowe scored 299 and Andrew Jones 186. There appear to have been 16 instances of two batsmen scoring a double-century in the same Test innings: four by Australia, four by Sri Lanka, three by Pakistan, two by the West Indies and one each by England, South Africa and India.” You’re right, this - if and when it happens - will be the first time two New Zealanders have achieved it in the same innings. Here’s the complete list.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

I hope Pakistani batsmen come out with positive intent, when they get a chance.

dangerous southee comes in

Mohammad Hafeez to Watling, OUT, given! Watling has reviewed here. He went for the pull and missed, the ball hit him fairly high up, it seemed, right in the groin area. He was in a bit of a crouch as he swivelled through his shot, so I'm not sure if that was all that high. What does Hawkeye say? Hawkeye says hitting, three-fourths of the way up. Good decision from Rod Tucker first up, and the review's only confirmed that.

Talha must get wicket at least on this stage

115.1
Mohammad Talha to Southee, FOUR, full outside off and he clears his front leg and launches it nonchalantly over the gap between the bowler and mid-off. Two bounces and over the rope

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

I think, best Pakistan can do is look for a draw now. To bat, cover the deficit and then give a target to get NZ out within that target is a remote thing to think of. Plus, Pakistan has already won a test, that means, if draw than Pakistan win the series.

Now, I think here captain should use his marble. If I was captain, I would have put a very defensive field and told my bowlers to bowl tight, not to take wickets but to keep the runs flowing as slow as possible. Idea would have been, NZ do not lose wickets but keep playing and making runs as slowly as possible. Actually, runs also do not matter, but if NZ make runs fast then even if they do not lose wickets they could declare, and my purpose would have been that they declare as late as possible. I would consider that they are playing for Pakistan if they keep playing slowly. For instance, if they play by tomorrow lunch time and gives whatever target, target should not make any difference, as Pakistan would need to play remaining time. So, longer the declaration or longer NZ keep playing the better. Each maiden or low run overs bowled by Pakistan, Pakistan achieve its target of drawing the match.

Mohammad Hafeez to Southee, SIX, loopy ball wide outside off, and Southee reaches out and launches it down the ground, clears the long-off boundary, and New Zealand have equalled the record of most sixes in a Test innings
