ISLAMABAD, May 18 (PNS): Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) will organize Latif Masters International Snooker Championship in September this year.
President PBSA Asghar Valika told PNSfrom Karachi that there would be handsome prize money for this mega event. The details in this connection are being worked out.
He said Peoples Republic of China, Thailand and United Arab Emirates are also being invited to participate in this event. Pakistan would be the fourth country to compete in this contest.
He said the main aim to hold the forthcoming championship was to give international exposure to Pakistani players. He said this was why Pakistan would be fielding two teams in the September tournament.
He said besides a number of other possible venues for this international tournament picturesque Bhurban (Murree hills) is also being considered as one of the venues.
He also disclosed that the participating teams would consist of three players and one official.
At the national level, he added, National Pool and Billiards Championship would be organised in Karachi from June 15. He said the winners of this championship would represent Pakistan in the Asian Games. He said in the Asian contest Pakistan would also feature in Pool and Billiards event besides the snooker event.
Moreover the President PBSA said the prize money for the national event has been increased. The winners will receive Rs. 30000 each whereas the runners-up will get Rs.15000 each. The losing semi-finalists will receive Rs.5000 each
