Pak Test player in trouble after ‘molestation’ charges
By our correspondent
KARACHI: A Pakistan test player is facing an embarrassing situation after a complaint filed by a citizen of Karachi that his wife had allegedly been sexually molested by the player last year.
In an intriguing development, the citizen has sent his written complaint to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) outlining his grievances/allegations and the incident that occurred with his wife last year during the home series against Bangladesh.
He has demanded of the board to take notice of the incident, hold an inquiry and take action against the guilty player or he had the option of going to court.
According to details, the citizen known as Asif claimed that his wife who is a part time model had met the Test player during a match in Karachi.
“He has complained to the board that the cricketer (name withheld) used to call her up regularly and also invited her to come to Lahore. While on a modeling assignment outside Karachi the player met her and then started pestering her and made an outright proposition to have sex with him,” the citizen has written to the board.
The complainant said that after his wife refused to do any such thing the cricketer turned apologetic and said he was sorry after which the matter was closed.
But the citizen has written that while he had gone abroad for some work, the cricketer again invited his wife to attend a party in Lahore at a common friend’s place where he intoxicated her and then sexually molested her.
“He says in his letter that after the incident the cricketer tried to hush up things by apologizing to the woman and afterwards even threatened her of dire consequences if she related the incident to anyone else,” a source in the board said.
However, after her husband learnt of the incident he decided to pursue the matter and wants some action taken against the cricketer.
This is not the first time that a Pakistan team player has been involved in incidents and allegations involving sexual harassment.
