Whats up with your openers Umair....Faisal and Saleem Elahi, I would'nt go with that. Zimbabwe or SA mein zameen asmaan ka faraq hai...
Check out the tour match goin on wid some local South African team...last I heard the we were 130/8..yeah
I say...we should stick wid Taufeeq Umar, he looks like a genuine opener and is pretty talented. We desperately need Saeed Anwar.

well today taufiq scored a duck and faisal scored 31.
Faisal has got more shots then Taufeeq does but yeh taufiq got a more solid defence! Let see whom does waqar and Pybus prefer!
Noway in the world I would go with saleem elahi tuafiq umer or fasial to open at the same time in the world cup. We need expereince!Didnt we learn from the past?
I have seen Taufiq batting. he is a solid player , a nervous starter, has a very limited shots selection better suited for test games and as far elahi is concerned I still dun have faith in him. His performace was exceptional but he tends to chip the ball on air alot and this can be easliy exploited by quality opponents. I wont be surprise if he chokes in SA tour. We need Saeed to open with Taufiq/elahi/fasial, alteast an experience opener should be there.
PCB made a blunder for ommiting Saeed anwar for the Zimb tour to get the much needed practice despite his improvement and dedication prior to the tour , 50 and 28 not out in his last ODIs I believe, and even in the tests his performance wasnt bad at all. HEck even Wajahat wasti would have performed greatly against Zimb.
Now PCB totally ignored Saeed Anwar for SA tour , watch out for the "big" shock when they recall him back for the World cup without any match practice, like the way Miandad was recalled and see what happened.
Not to my surprise paksitani batting has been exposed in the bouncy wickets, both openers failed ,Taufiq and Elahi, I do understand it requires some time to adjust but my gut feelings says its just the begnning of their miserable run. I hope I'm wrong.
Can you recommend anyone who can open other than Faisal, Taufeeq and Elahi, who is in South Africa currently.
They may not be the best in Pakistan but they are best available players we can have.
Taufeeq should be reserved for test cricket. We need someone who can speed up the inning when required and unfortunatly he doesn’t have that.
Faisal Iqbal showed true colors, and he is the kind of player who doesn’t throw his wicket away like Imran Nazir and Shahid Afridi.

Saeed anwars was looking awfully short of top fitness while on net a couple of days back! My friend practices with him and he says he seems unintersted. I hope he hsnt given up hope for the world cup! and should practice regularly to gain top shape!
I was wondering why not PCB shouldnt try Inzimam out for the openers spot! Just like India used Sachin ! Inzi is a quality batsmen but not a good runner so he tend to struggle in middle of innings taking singles. When opening he can score boundaries in first 15 overs. Coz he is the best bowling of pace bowling when in form! and this way Afridi can be adjusted in the middle order to allow an extra bowler!
Kamran Akmal
Faisal Iqbal
Yousuf Youhana
Inzimam-Ul-Haq
Younis Khan
Shahid Afridi
Abdul Razzaq
Wasim Akram
Waqar Younis
Shoaib Akhter
Mohammad Sami (cuz of fast green pitches of South Africa)
12th man, Saqlain Mushtaq, and if Sami fails to perform, then we an bring in Saqlain!
From the comments of cricinfo, there was alot of movements in today's match. Assuming that all pitches of South Africa is like that then instead of going with Saqlain, Waqar has the option of playing 5 fast bowler.
Waqar, Shoaib, M Sami, M Zahid, Razzaq.

you forgot Wasim opted out of TEST NOT Onedayers..
and there should always be variety in attack thats why four seamers in a onedayers are more then enough, so Afridi/saqlain should also be playing! monotonous attacks are always dangerous! So bowling attacks in onedayers should consist of
Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib, Razzaq, Afridi.
I think its always good to have a 6th bowler especially in ODI’s, because you never know…someone like Shoaib Akhtar can win you the game one day and bowl like the indian team the next day rotfl:

Not playing Saqlian will be dumbest Idea whatever type the pitch may be.
all i can say is zimbabwe aur south africa mein zameen asmaan ka farq hai as someonelse said on top and pakistan shouldn't go with those youngsters and unreliable players like salim elahi etc etc...
