Personally I do not favour I.P.L .I have not watched the matches also. But I believe this may be a huge blow for pak players..

NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s cricketers will continue to miss out on the Indian Premier League bonanza after none of them were included in the auction for next year’s money-spinning event, organisers said Tuesday.
No Pakistani featured in a list of 416 players whose services will be auctioned in Bangalore on January 8-9 for the fourth edition of the Twenty20 tournament, which is to be held in April and May.
Pakistani cricketers took part in the inaugural IPL in 2008, but were forced out of the 2009 edition due to security concerns in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, and were then ignored for the 2010 tournament.
An IPL official said the Pakistan Cricket Board had not forwarded any names for the January auction.
“The rules stipulate that a player must apply through his home board if he wanted to be put up for the auction. No names were received from Pakistan,” the official told AFP.
Some top stars from other countries opted out. The Australian trio of captain Ricky Ponting, his deputy Michael Clarke and fast bowler Mitchell Johnson chose to give the event a miss.
Other notable absentees include former Australian stars Matthew Hayden and Glenn McGrath. The former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, who signed for 1.55 million dollars with the Chennai Super Kings in 2009, has retired.
But ex-West Indian captain Brian Lara, 41, who was not part of the first three editions, has thrown his hat in the ring despite bowing out of international cricket in April 2007.
Other first-timers include England’s Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Graeme Swann, Michael Yardy and Luke Wright.
The eight founder franchises will be joined by two new teams from Kochi and Pune for the auction.
Twelve players who were retained by their franchises will not feature in the auction.
Star batsman Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, West Indian Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka were retained by the Mumbai Indians.
Reigning champions Chennai Super Kings kept Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay and South African all-rounder Albie Morkel.
The Aussie duo of Shane Warne and Shane Watson were retained by Rajasthan Royals, while Delhi Daredevils kept Virender Sehwag and Bangalore Royal Challengers retained Virat Kohli.
The tournament, due to run from April 8 to May 22, will be the first without the IPL’s chief architect Lalit Modi, who was thrown out by the Indian board over accusations about his conduct.
The Indian board has registered a criminal case against him for the misappropriation of 4.68 billion rupees (106 million dollars) and he also faces a government probe over alleged financial irregularities.

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

Doesnt Matter ......Even Paki players are not interested in it :p

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

look at what the love of money have done to a few of them :(

play with commitment and pride for ur nation.

no one with a central contract is facing hunger and poverty .... they shall just take a look at all those affected by floods and few years back by the devastating Earth Quake

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

Under current circumstances I thing IPL miss-out will not be missed at all in Pakistan
IPL is losing its luster due to controversies at home.

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

Good thing.

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

Big Bash Zinda Bad...

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

Beside earning money, I dont see any other positives. We have seen how Indian team performed in T20 although they have max no of players in IPL. So it might be a personal loss to Pakistani players but as a team, Pakistani is losing nothing...

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

^Yes..It ios just a money making gimmick only. But I know it involves a huge way of match fixing.I am sure nobody will dare to probe that..

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

:d6c:

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

Match fixing without Pakistani players play? :hmmm:

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

^Ahhhhh who is devoid of that? All are part of it..I believe except kenya ,Zimbabwe,Afghanistan,Canada, ireland etc :D

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

Technically that's a blow. I was hoping Pak players would be back. If Pak actors and singers can work in India.. so should Pak cricketers. It doesnt hve to get so political unless its a team representing Pakistan. If it's just players signing up for various Indian franchises whats the big deal.

On the other hand I'm not sure if I actually want any of the current Pak players to play in India. I used to like Amir and Umar but ek chor nikla.. doosra chor ka bhai.. chor hee hoga. bachha kaun? Afridi is a top T20 player.. Akhtar would be good.. but I can't seem to want anybody else to play.

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

^ Razzaq!

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

Personally I have no interest in IPL with or without Pak players.....Too much of a muchness

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

WC will take out the air from IPL's balloon this year. Its not same as it was in first two seasons. Last year, even Indian media in the 4th week said it seems like too many games.

IPL is an excellent business model, but to sustain charm like NBA, NFL or MLB for decades is a challenge. I have a feeling that it will not be the same as it did a big bang in 2008.

Running a world championship over 3 months with mostly weekend games in three continents might be better suited (in game's interest and global appeal, and somewhat money magnet also). Current FTA of cricket is crazy like hell. May be we need to produce a T20 breed of its own and keep them in this championship alone. So Test series with ODI may run as classic cricket, where teams visit each other. And keep this global league for an NBA style champion ship with regional conferences competing for months until the finals. With weekend only games with all the Nikes, Adidas and Cokes pouring in the money for sponsorship, it could be a huge success. Just have an all exclusive 'League Professionals' in the team, like boxing has professional (commercial) and others classification.

PCB blames India for lack of players in IPL

KARACHI: A senior Pakistani cricket official on Saturday blamed India for the exclusion of Pakistan’s players from next year’s lucrative Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament.

Subhan Ahmed, chief operating officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), claimed that India did not respond to queries about the participation of Pakistani players.

“We asked them about the participation of Pakistani players, but they did not give any response,” he told reporters.

“From our end all the documentation that is needed, we undertake to provide them, whether that is permissions or no-objection certificates.”

He said Pakistan wanted its players to participate in the contest, which is a financial bonanza for those who take part, but said: “(Pakistanis) playing or not in this event is not in our hands.”

The PCB’s response came after an Indian Premier League (IPL) official said on Tuesday that no Pakistani cricketers were on a list of 416 players for next month’s auction for the fourth edition of the tournament, which is to be held in April and May next year.

“The rules stipulate that a player must apply through his home board if he wanted to be put up for the auction. No names were received from Pakistan,” Ratnakar Shetty said.

Eleven Pakistani cricketers took part in the inaugural IPL in 2008, but were forced out of the 2009 edition due to security concerns in the wake of the Mumbai attacks.

They were then overlooked for the 2010 tournament after teams failed to bid for them in the auction.

The PCB was left fuming by the perceived snub and in January this year revoked all the players’ permissions for the IPL.

Since then only paceman [Mohammad Irfan](Search: Latest News, Videos and Photos of Search | Times of India Irfan), who played two one-day internationals for Pakistan this year, has been linked to an IPL team - the Kolkata Knight Riders - for next year’s edition.

But the Ahmed denied any Pakistani players, or IPL teams, had asked for the no-objection certificate (NOC) from the PCB required to play.

“No player or franchise has approached us,” Ahmed said. “They’ve actually revised the process of inducting players so any player who wants to participate will have to get permission and NOC from their board.”

waleedhbk Sir : With all the enmity for India why does PCB “INSIST” for Pakistani players to be included in the Indian Money Making Bonanza?

I would love to see the Pakistani Players in India but first we must normalize our relations and behave as Brothers & Sisters and NOT AS ENEMIES.

Best Regards

Re: Pak players to miss I.P.L

My guess is that 15 years down the line nobody in India will be interested in cricket played outside of India and that the IPL will be far bigger and richer than any International cricket tournament.

I doubt if there’s any truth in the ^ story it self. In fact ‘Highly Unlikely’ for any Pakistani official to express concerns for what goes on in Indian Cricket. Specially under present circumstances
