"Pak. makes better tanks, fighter planes than India"

indian technology far behind pakistan and china?

Re: “Pak. makes better tanks, fighter planes than India”

rvikz, for tanks I would say yes… There was a very nice article once on an indian newspaper which said that after al-khalid and all, the balance of power of tanks shifted to pakistan’s side.

Pak makes better tanks, fighter planes and missiles. I am trying to locate that article from nbc/msnbc... if someone knows what im talking about please post.

Thanks

there's no doubt that Pakistan has been developing better weapons than India. we must be thankful to out military leadership ans strategic planners who are far sighted enough to make sure our defense equipment is up to date and comptent enough to defend our land. The Al-Khalid tank was the first land mark, then came the Augusta submarines and most recently the JF17 fighter plane. All three of these fighting machines are A category technologies. We also have the misiles like Ghauri, Shaheen etc. The fact that our defense industries are not only capable of producing these machines at home on their own for national use but can also cater the requirements of friendly countries by selling them the equipment, is sure to boost our ecoonmy. countries such as Jordan, KSA have already placed orders for the tanks, Mashaq trainer planes etc and a lot of other defense equipment. recently PN launched it's fully home produced version of the French Augusta submarine named PNS/M SAAD and the Navy is now also ready to produce this submarine commercially for sale to friendly countries. Pakistan has been hosting one of the world's largest defense exhibitions 'IDEAS' in Karachi for the past few years.
We ought to be proud of our armed forces and their expertise and competence in all areas, technical and operational.

I have had the benifit of a grand tour of HIT(Heavy Industries texlia) and POF(Pakistan Ordianace factories) and i must say Pakistan is well on the way to self-sefficency.

The Al-Khalid was mentioned in the Jane's international defence journol 2003 and having had a detailed demonstation of this great tank here is what i have to say:

The Al-Khalid has improved Metallurgy and Heat Reactive Armor and double that with the diesle stick shift engine of the T-57, the Al-Khalid is amongst one of the best tanks out there in the market, the commander is provided with a fully intergrated Traget Intridiction system similar to the US Abrahams Tank.

This tank is said to rival the worksmanship of the British Challenger and the US Abrahams.

Apart from the Tanks HIT, produce Three other vehicles amongst those is the Muhafiz. Made espically for Civil Use it is one of the best APC come patrol vheicle i have come accross. Already Islamabad, Punjab and Sindh police have purchased six of these and many more are planned to be bought by the Rangers.

POF make great armament and Munitions, Amongst these are the range of MP5's(Sub Machine Guns) produced under licence from HK Germany. The G3 range (Assualt Rifle) produced under licence from HK Germany and the MG-60 (machine Gun) produced under licence from HK Germany.

POF's worksmenship is so great that now HK imports its spear parts directly from POF instead of makingn them in europe.

Apart from those weapons Indigrated Defence Systems and POF are working on the several misslies and High Explosive shells, other civil products include Electronic Tazers, elctronic survalliance and counter espionage systems and Ballistic helmets and clothing.

Pakistan's belife and investment in its military are set to pay off huge dividends.. INSHALLAH!!!

Pakistan Zindabad.

thanks for the info Jackal!
there's no doubt our forces are among the world's very best in every aspect; as a whole and also on the individuals' level.

Great !! - Once you are done with that make sure you build some hospitals in Pakistan so that your children don't need to cross the border for treatment.

I'm willing to believe that Pakistan makes better tanks thank India - however, I wouldn't go so far as saying that our domestic aircraft industry is better - with the FC-1, we are at best on par with India and potentially a little bit further behind.

thats what the civilian population is for..

We don't really build any fighters at the moment. We will very shortly start building some components for the FC-1 but it's going to be a while before we're building our own fighters. It doesnt really compare to what the Indians are doing with the LCA, but then they have a huge lead on us. I'm not trying to denigrate our efforts, but i think people are exagerating our capabilties somewhat.

We do however build a damn fine tank in the Al-Khalid. While its armour isn't really comparable to Western tanks like the Abrams, or Challenger, it does have first class firepower and mobility. And if you can shoot the other guy before he sees you, then your armour becomes redundant.

That was uncalled for, this article was published by your own newspapers, so please dont vent your anger at us. That kid you are talking about, he was a spcial case, and India provided him with a cheaper operation compared to the west, and even Pakistan, so you should be proud of the fact you saved a life, not use it as leverage to declare your superiority.

Re: “Pak. makes better tanks, fighter planes than India”

Actually,

Why would Pakistan want to compare their tech skills in building planes and tanks with India? India doesnt really have an excellent track record there does it?

Satellites are a different matter, but tanks and planes?

Anyways, both countries depend on buying these from the big boys, so whats the big deal?

one of the purposes of the thread was to praise and discuss whatever amount of advcancemet Pakistan has been able to achieve in this field even under the constant turbulent poiltical and economic conditions. Of course we are not as hi-tech as the Americans, Chinese, French, Russians etc. but wtih our size and resources we have done extraordinarily well! So ppl who are killing the mood of this thread by pushing forward their pessimistic and sarcastic views by bringing up bizarre arguments must take a look at the positive sides. We ARE actually capable of building high class weapons and defense equipment along with planes, ships, submarines and tanks-within around 50 yrs of independence and with continous unrest in the eco-political environemt. That IS worth a praise!

Arey yaar - I would have said the same thing if an Indian was bragging about it. I mean what is the point in spending billions of dollars on some stup!d tank or plane when 50% of our population is below poverty line.

True, its sad both of our countries are involved in this armed race... But then again, our militaries also deserve respect, because they are working hard to protect their respective borders. Al-Khalid was a project that required alot of research and hard work, and deserves credit. Maybe a time will come that the same hard work and dedication is directed to encompass hospitals, schools etc.
