NDTV.com: Pak Hindu girl marries Indian lover

Amid pomp and show, a Pakistani girl, who is a Hindu, entered into wedlock with an Indian boy in this holy city on Monday.

The wedding ceremony was solemnised in Amritsar as bridegroom’s family, relatives and friends could not get visas to proceed to Pakistan.

Pawan Kumar and Anita, the bride, tied the knot as Punjabi folk songs and traditional dances added zing to the occasion.

Dhian Chand, father of Pawan, said his son went to Pakistan last year to visit some relatives where he met Anita.

Both fell in love and got engaged in Peshawar where the family of the girl resides.

“We wanted to solemnise the marriage in Pakistan. But, due to tedious procedure, we cannot get the visas,” he said.

The coy bride said she arrived in India on a 45-day visa but now she wanted to settle down in Amritsar with her husband and in-laws.

Dhian Chand said he would request concerned authorities to give permission to her daughter-in-law to stay in India.
