Salam guppies: I have been trying to get in touch with Pakistan Houston Consulate. Phone appears to be always busy. No email replies. Is it still open? Do they do passport renewals? Thanks a bunch. Please reply.

Typical of Paki embassy. It used to be the same with NY. Try calling a different time then when you are calling..
if not call a local pakistani travel agent. ..he will tell you what the deal is...

best solution is to get in touch with a local travle agent. Horizon tarvels is pretty good in dealing with such issues.

they are a-holes.especaially the staff at pak embassy in los angeles.i had a fight with them once.they are very impolite and unhelpful.they dont give you all the details of what documents you have to submit and once you do submit the passport it can get stuck there for a long time sometimes and they won't talk to you on the phone about it as it happened with me.so be careful

Sorry I'd have to disagree..
A couple of years ago when the Houston consulate just started it's operations, I had to use it for a visa emergency. They were extremely responsive and very cooperative and went out of their way to make sure travel plans weren't disrupted.
This year again they were very prompt and responsive.
Perhaps this time around they may have gone to NY to TC their bosses there, but i'm sure someone would be around.. As Kaleem said, use a Travel Agency.. they're good at this stuff too

I'd disagree too. I think our pakistani people are quite rude too and when dealing with people at the consulate they go back to their old desi selves. You may be given incorect information but not always. All information is available on line but people don;t bother reading up themselves and call the embassy for every little thing, reason why u can have a very difficult time getting through to the staff. I have found them helpful too. I know someone who needed her passport renewed and showed up at the embassy when it was closed for a long weekend or something. the attendant there called up one of the staff members who went to the embassy, took the passport to the officers home and got it signed and stamped. Try going to the consulate if you cannot get thru via phone or then travel agents if the embassy is too far from you

Ok, So we are not the only ones. Thank you for the replies. Most of the times, at DC, I never had problems. I hope Houston Consulate will prove to be the same. They may be over worked and understaffed but this the case everywhere. I wish they would reply to emails at least.

I have dealth with the houston consulate at many times and they were always polite and patient to everyone....this time they might be busier because of our President being here in the US....call them again and try calling them after 3:30
