Pakistan-China joint naval exercise will begin from October 21 to further develop bilateral cooperation in the defence sector. It will be China’s first-ever naval exercise with any foreign country, defence sources told APP here. The exercise, to take place in deep seawater near the Shanghai coast, will involve frontline warships, maritime aircraft and helicopters from both sides, the sources added.
Two Pakistani warships carrying about 700 soldiers and crew members will arrive in Shanghai on October 18. According to the sources, the maritime exercise will help the two sides further strengthen the capability of defending the sea frontiers and safeguarding the maritime interests. It would also provide an opportunity to share experience and expertise in the maritime field consolidating their defence capability. The forces of the two countries enjoy decades’ long strategic partnership in the defence sector, based on mutual trust and confidence, the sources said, adding “the joint maritime exercise reflects importance of the relations between the two navies.”
In signs of the ever increasing ties between Pakistan and Great China, the Pakistan Air Force Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat, is in Beijing for a week long visit , and soon after the Chief of Army Staff i.e. President Musharraf himself will be making a state visit to China in November. In a meeting with the PAF chief the Chinese Defence Minister, General Cao Gangchuan said:-
“The Chinese people and their armed forces had always regarded Pakistan as their sincere, reliable and trustworthy friend and brother. Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with Pakistan to go on advancing the army-to-army friendly and cooperative relations,”

Let's hope they pass on a few nuclear tipped submarine launched missiles Pakistans way, I'd be surprised if they hadn't already.

I don't think that China has any submarine launchable nukes for its own navy, let alone for export. To avoid an arms race, they've historically limited their nuclear arsenal to pose minimal nuclear threat to the USA.
Why not,
If india and israel and america can make a plateform and can get together why not PAKISTAN and CHINA get together and show to
those guys that our eyes are open we can see you our nose can smell
some smoke too. They should do what others are doing.
BEIJING, Oct 22: Naval ships from China and Pakistan held a joint rescue drill on Wednesday in the East China Sea off Shanghai, state media said.
A Pakistan destroyer and a supply ship joined a Chinese frigate and supply ship in the “Dolphin 0310” exercise, the official Xinhua news agency said.
The drill was the first joint exercise between Chinese and foreign naval vessels in a “non-traditional security” field, the agency said. The scenario involved an emergency rescue by naval ships after an out-of-control fire on board a civilian vessel.
Communications and air-sea rescue technology were also used in the drill, it said. The Pakistani destroyer “Bubur” and its supply ship are on a five-day visit to China.
The exercise was jointly commanded by Vice Admiral Zhang Deshun, chief of staff of the East China Sea Fleet of the Chinese Navy and Commodore Shafi of the Pakistani Navy, adds APP.
In recent years, Chinese armed forces have stepped up their cooperation in non-traditional security fields both regionally and internationally, with the new security concept of “mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality and coordination”, said a leading officer with the Foreign Affairs Office under the Chinese Ministry of National Defence.
Babar, the Pakistani destroyer, and NASR, the supply ship, arrived here on Saturday under the command of Pakistani Navy Commander Tahir, for a five-day visit to China.

Well it's not something any sane leadership would admit to anyhow, in the current climate of pre-emption.

That's true, and President Musharraf is off to Great China (and South Korea) next month, in what is being billed as a pretty important state visit. No doubt quite a lot of stuff, apart from Naval cooperation will be discussed? :)
