And yes my view is fogged by my religious beliefs and I cannot imagine what I could have ever done if I had been in their situation. I feel bad for them that public acceptance is a constant struggle for them throughout their lives. But as desis we r constantly groomed by our families to appear asexual throughout our lives in public (no tight clothes, no low necklines, no slutty dressing, no PDAs, and no such overtones in front of our children, that sex lives are something very private etc.) . So I think if straight ppl can do it, then they can be private about their sexuality too? That's all I expect from them.
Ofcourse in the west since they already have general public acceptance (that yes I know u r gay and it's ok with me that u r like that in ur own life and ur own home), that then goes to the next step, that then they want the other marriage rights and whatever tax cuts and other benefits straight couples get. Then where does it go from there, we have to watch their hot and heavy scenes on tv and in movies,ads, print media? Like the straight hot and heavy scenes aren't enough for our kids to be bombarded with in the first place. It's all just making us comfortable with as much fahaashi as possible. What we were comfortable with will now be stepped up a 100 times for our kids, and another 100 times for their kids. It's all inevitable since that's where the trend is headed but I'd like that to not be a steep uphill but as flatlined as possible.
How you behave towards minorities defines u as a person. Why shoukdnt gays have same rights eft tax benefits health care and marital rights. Just because it makes uiu uncomfortable. What if the same rights r denied to Muslims ot Hindus. Would u be ok with that.
