taking mind altering drugs and consuming alcohol is haram. how about taking painkillers for relaxation?
Re: painkillers
I dont think they r haram. But I'm not sure. I guess it depends on the kind of ingrediends they got.
Re: painkillers
As a future doc if I am to prescribe my patients a pain killer...there will be a limit to that pain killer so that patients don't get overdose. I think it depends how much you take in.
Re: painkillers
the ingredients isnt what i was referring to (although that is a concern to some ppl) I was talking more about taking painkillers as recreational use and not just using it as a pain relief.
Re: painkillers
I don’t think pain killers can be considered as a “nasha” - something that can possibly make one lose his mind.
Re: painkillers
I'm pretty sure that taking any kind of drug for recreational use is a sin. I guess it does depend on the ingredients. A lot of pain killers come with codeine which basically knocks you out for hours or makes you dizzy to the point where you can't operate a car. I know people who are depressed or going through a bad spell have turned to such 'remedies' to ease their pain ... when it is really emotional trauma they are going through, not physical. In any case, I would think it's wrong.
