Pain Free Labour is not just a myth, honest.

My four labours were very different, two were painful and two pain free. After a very stressful first labour I set out to find out why labour hurts and why it should not. The results of this search led me to having a wonderful pain free labour with my second. I want to share with other women how to make sure there labours are pain free in the first stage of labour.

hey girls, did you read this blog? i thought it had some really interesting stuff. The first one about having your waters/membranes broken. When i went into labour the midwife kept asking me if i wanted my waters broken and i kept saying no. My waters then boke when i was around 9cm and then baby followed. That's probably why i wasn't in sooo much pain...because my waters remained intact nearly right to the end.

Oh I didn't get to see what she'd posted anyhow, I guess having a pain free labour or not depends on your pain threshold.

Re: Pain Free Labour is not just a myth, honest.

My own experiences of being in labour have taught me that pain free labour is an achievable goal for low risk women having a normal pregnancy and birth. Women today are taught from an early age that labour is going to hurt. As soon as they go into labour they become stressed and afraid. This stress causes the body to produce adrenalin. Adrenalin has effects on the body that force the uterine muscle to contract painfully. For more detailed info. put pain free labour into your comp. and look for my page on the subject. I explain how adrenalin causes the contractions to become painful. Getting people to believe in a pain free labour is an uphill struggle cos once an idea has settled in your mind it is very very difficult to change it. How brave are we women that we still contemplate becoming pregnant believing that labour will hurt. I want to set most women free of that belief. Pain free labour does exist, I have done it and it surprised the hell out of me. Good luck. Ann x.
