Paid Agents Among Us

Re: Paid Agents Among Us

Psychological warfare is not rare, and internet is an important battle-ground for keyboard warriors. Some warriors are definitely paid, but many of these warriors are 'self-employed volunteers'. Don't see any agents here, however, a number of posters manifest strong political, national, religious and ethnic affiliations in their posts, which is sort of online marketing of their ideas and interests.

What concerns me more are those free encyclopedias and 'accurate' reference sites which are so free that anyone can freely edit them. Any group of people with better proficiency in English (or other widely understood langauges), better propaganda tactics, and greater number of volunteers can easily get an upper hand. He said, she said, Hindustan Times said, the rumor is, it is believed, it is said etc etc.. and you have a new article uploaded.

Re: Paid Agents Among Us

Great post!

I agree that there are self-styled ideologues (sp?) and volunteers who are hell bent on supporting political and ideological affiliations. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there are posters on someone's payroll spreading political/religious ideas.

Wikipedia is a joke.
