Page Numbering on Microsoft Word

Ok this is absurd, something as simple as this shouldn’t be made so hard.

Anyways, none of the tutorials online are helping so can anyone of you help me understand how exactly can i start numbering of pages from where i want to start instead of it doing it automatically from start.

How to create a Word document that uses different page numbering formats

Oh gosh, page numbering is pain in the butt. It's one if those things that takes you ages to figure out...and then you forget how to do it....cuz it's not something that's used often. I used videos to figure it out. But now I can't remember.

Re: Page Numbering on Microsoft Word

Here is a little screen capture video I put together.

I’m on my phone and haven’t watched the vid, but can’t you just add page #s](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=s) as a header? I’ll take screen shots when I sit down at a computer. It’s literally 2 or 3 clicks.

Re: Page Numbering on Microsoft Word

You can but then it will use the default which is to start page 1 with page one and so forth. She is trying to customize that.

Insert a section break in the document. On the*Page Layout*tab, in the*Page Setup*group, click*Breaks.

Click the type of section break you want. I'd suggest Next Page.

Then add page numbers for that section. In the beginning they'll be added for all sections in the document. But you can remove them from pages you dont want them on. And they'll be adjusted automatically. You can even add different types of page number formats to one document. Eg i,ii,iii and so on for first section and 1,2,3... so on for next section.

Hope it helps.
