paediatricians recommendations...

folks, do you know a website besides google where I can read some reviews on the area paediatricians? I am looking for good paediatrician in iselin/edison/woodbridge/colonia area.

Also, question: up to what age paeds normally check diaper covered areas and beyond what age they don’t perform check ups on those areas?

when we were in VA, our paed will thoroughly check my daughter including diaper covered areas, back, chest, ENT etc. After the nurse would take the measurements, doctor would explain to us which percentile the baby stood at growth wise. They will always ask us if we had any questions etc. It was very helpful.

Unfortunately we din’t get the same level of services when I took my daughter to one near us, dr kavita bhapati near woodbridge center, she only did check up with clothes on and just the ENT. She also didn’t say anything about baby growth or which percitle she stands at.

I could have checked the friggin’ ENT and took the measurement of the baby and looked up on the web to do percentile calculations. Why do I need a paed for that if child is not sick? I was also disappointed by the staff who looked like was only trying to get off from work.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Re: paediatricians recommendations...

Hey Roman,
All baby docs are supposed to do weight and measurements of the child without clothing and without diapers. And record those findings. Also supposed to check out the diaper area, check for hernias and for hip dysplasia which requires the child be unclothed during the exam. It sounds like you got an overloaded doc who just processes their patients through as fast as possible.

webmd has some good doc reviews which you can view for free. healthgrades dot com has more reviews and even any malpractice info but I think you have to buy their reports (not sure so its worth checking out).

Good luck, and you're doing the right thing by switching docs...

Re: paediatricians recommendations…

roman,

try this website:
www.ratemds.com

search by pediatricians in your area, and they even show reviews on some of them…and at least some of the reviews are pretty dead on.

Also maybe if you have a good private doctor for you or your wife that you like, ask him/her for recomendation for Pediatricians in your area.
