I thought few people knew about it here.

Anyway, here it is:

Five pulses (in equal quantities) 250 grams (chnna, arhur, mash, moong and masoor)
Soak them in water 3 times of the daal quantity (after washing properly).

Boil the soaked daal with following things at low heat:

Ginger - sliced
Bullet chillies - 6 whole
Lal mirch kutti - one tablespoon
Haldi - one teaspoon
Salt

When daal is tender (channa daal will remain intact while rest of the daals will mostly dissovled by boiling), fry it with a big thinly sliced onion and zeera and oil. Sprinkle garam masala after frying.

Daal is ready which is very good with plain rice.

I use the paanch daal in haleem and it tastes better along with a bit of Joan

Yeah sure I use the box called Shaan and add my own daals and joan

My mother ( Allah unko jannat naseeb karay .ameen). Used to make it with lemon and piaz key chuney. Yum, Yum with plain basmati rice or chapati.

Exactly like my marhoma mother! Lemon, piaz aur haric mirch ki chutni! So simple yet so tasty.

No I dont, i just use the masala mixture cause I dont store all the masalas at home as they just sit there and gather dust.

I add fresh lehsan to the oil till it fragrances then add meat and bhoonify it then add the masala and the daals and joan and let it cook.
