Well, Annu directs music in 90% of the Indian films, but what makes this one stand out? Read what the Indian critics have to say about this...
And PCG, when you outsource part of your music production, you dont just write 'MUSIC MADE IN PAKISTAN' on your album...

After 'Jism', Pooja Bhatt's next venture 'PAAP' is a spiritual and romantic one starring John Abraham and introducing Udita Gowswami. With the success of her last film JISM, Pooja has taken the director's chair and produced some truly soulful and supernatural music. The music of this much awaited venture has a few songs done by Anu Malik, with the majority of the numbers coming from Pakistani music composers, who have brought Indian music back to its roots, with some truly class numbers. The album treads new territory and re-affirms the importance of songs in Indian cinema. It truly represents a real testament to music, which sees, feels or hears no borders. Read on...
Anuradha Paudwal returns to the music scene to render INTEZAAR with Anu Malik adding a soulful and haunting rhythm to the song. It is one of those numbers which has such a darkening yet powerful melody which you can listen to over and over. Sayeed Quadri ('Jism', 'Saaya') provides some hauntingly appealing poetry to the spanish style instruments in the background. The song has the ability to transfer listeners into another realm while listening and taking in the true beauty the song offers.
Anu Malik's other composition on the album SUN E MERE DIL is significantly less appealing than the latter, due to its slower nature and unhummable tune. It is more of a situational number, with Paudwal teaming with Udit Narayan. Both of the singers do an okay job, not having any capacity to carry the song. It is made up of more instrumental interludes and will take time to grow on any listener.
The remainder of the numbers have been outsourced to a music company by the name of Music Mushrooms. **The second track MANN KI LAGAN is an excellent composition by Shahi, and introduces Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (The late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's nephew). Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is simply a revelation, who does wonders for this semi-classical style song. The tabla and accordion in the background make a spellbinding effect for the song, and truly deserves a listen for its soft and beautifully composed rhythm.
GARAJ BARAS is a Pakistani pop track composed and rendered by Ali Azmat (of the group Junoon). Azmat does a tremendous job of rendition as well as his huge of the guitar, which only adds to the rock feel of the song. It is definitely a song which has a lot of potential and can easily rise on the indian music charts for its truly unique composition.
Truly, one of the most innovative numbers of the album is LAAL which is a fusion of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Farukh Fateh Ali Khan in alaap style, almost for 6 straight minutes. Composer Shahi does a powerful job in creating the song and fusioning all the elements together. Definitely a song to be heard and remembered!**
The remainder of the tracks on the album are instrumental numbers. A lot of them have a soulful, spiritual and powerful drum beats to it. They all add to the overall feel of the album and to the movie at large.
**
The soundtrack of PAAP is a gem we haven't heard or seen in the longest time. With the trend in Indian cinema and music being towards a more hollywood-style effect, the music of PAAP brings Indian music back to its roots and presents some truly memorable numbers.** It also re-iterates the fact that music has no borders, and it appeals to many all around the world. The music of PAAP is a unique and soulful experience in Indian music, something all music listeners aching for something more will enjoy!

Yar itni jaldi ghussa nahee anna chahiya... They meant Rahats introduction into Bollywood.
Speaking of Rahat, hes pretty good too, I used to think he was making a mistake trying to imitate the great NFAK, but when he sung 'jeena he saath' with Eddie Vedder, I sensed the magic in his voice!
Rahet FAK’s man ki lagan is AWESOME  and I liked Junoon’s garaj baras too…:k: ![]()
I expected better.. the promos sound better then the whole thing.
althougth RNFAK was a definate improvement. his voice isnt so 3whiney anymore.

What do you mean by that? Rahats got an incredible voice! Here is what the great Eddie Vedder has to say about Rahat!
**
"In the tradition of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, his nephew, and prodigy, Rahat carries on the Qawwali message. The vocal spiritualizations of the Qawwali singer is an art that has spanned seven centuries. I hope Rahat will touch us in the way Nusrat has and continue on the Ali Khan legacy."
