Yes, a very common thing among us asians. We tend to chew it for hours and then spit it everywhere. We even discuss the best paan makers in different parts of the city and have this habit of presenting in parties and gatherings.
Also, why people ask you to bring some with you when u r coming from Pakistan and then at some airport custom ppl put some water in the choona and it starts to bubble and u feel embarrassed. The worst thing come when your non asian friend ask you why these people spit blood on the streets.
My question is what is so good about this habit of paan chewing that makes people crazy about it and do you like it as well and why?
I have learnt silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet strange, I am ungrateful to these teachers.
them non-paan eaters (munch munch)dunno what they re missing..(chew chew).....its fun...especially from dadi jis paan daan..its tasty (if eaten occasionally)...and about them customs ppl (pick chalia from teeth)..they simply are jealous (spit!)
I am not a regular paan chew-er but i do have meetha paan occasionally, and obviously you don’t spit this one out.
I think there’s an ingredient, probably chuna that is sort of addictive. I am not positive about this but hopefully a fellow guppy can tell us for sure. Its like a slow addiction, a craving that someone has to fulfill.
I was in Pakistan last summer, and all you saw down most streets was paan spits
i did have metha paan couple of times but i think when it becomes habit it is disgusting especially that spitting in every corner.
Aur Ik Anarkali dekh bhaal ke dadi ke paandan se paan churaya kero kabhi ghalti se Tambakoo wala paan kha liya na to yeh hum hum aur munch munch kerna bhool jao gi.
I believe the need to spit generates from the constant chewing, much like baseball players. Chewing accelerates the salivation, causing the need to spit frequently.
Regarding pan, its so useless. It serves no purpose other than a horribly tainted mouth. Blackened teeth, dirty red tongue, accompanied by the horrible smell, no matter how much 'saunf' you put in it. And the worst is the 'gilori', very popular in india and sindh.....the 'tambakoo wala pan'. Yuk.
Upar walay nay apni mohabbat kay sadqay mein hum sab kay liyay yay dharti banaee thi par mohabbat kay dushmano nay is par lakeerein kainch kar sarhadein bana dei
meri dadi abh paan nahin khateen…well not since she lost all her teeth…sounds funny but its true! she was a great fan of paan eating…so was my great grandma…paan is great for digestion..u know what makes it even greater?..if you stick ur tongue out to somebody..they get the message!
want to try tambaku wala paan too but am scared i might get addicted to tobacco (i dont smoke)…is it addictive?
btw, aap logoN ko patta hai ke Ghalib kay zamaanay mein paanoN mein bahut sii cheezein paayee jaati thiN like zafraan and other such exotic herbs/spices…?
oh btw Khansahib...this is cool..now i too..shall upload in image gallery and post where ever i feel like!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regular Paan eaters have one after a big meal. They claim that its ingredients help wash up the cavities (yeah right) and also helps in digestion. Spitting it out is related to the cleaning cavities part.
In college days, I used to eat one just to be cool!! ;-) Yes, along with a cigarette, right outside the cinema while bunking a boring class--those were the days!!!
Khaike paan banaras waala,
khul jaaye band akal ka taala,
phir vo aisa kare kamaal,
seedhi khul saab ki something,
O chora Ganga kinaaray waala,
O chhora Ganga kinaaaray waala!
Had it once, and it tasted Yukh! I think it had some weird stuff in it!!!
