overwhelmed

I am swamped with work. :frowning: I’m only taking four classes and it’s not like it’s my first year in uni…It’s only the second week of classes but I feel like I’m already screwed for the entire semester. :frowning:

To the uni students out there, what are your study habits? Any advice for those of us who feel like no matter how hard we try, we just can’t keep up with all of our classes?

Re: overwhelmed

Re: overwhelmed

oh my gosh larki....i feel the same way. Its like my fourth year of uni and I am waiting to finish. So many group projects and so little time. Ands its the second week of school....what are these professor's trying to do kill us? I even thought of studying at the library so I would get my hw done and not be distracted.

Re: overwhelmed

Make a nice neat schedule for yourself and then actually follow it. The latter step is the harder.

Re: overwhelmed

i have the same problem plus the year end at work messed me up and i don't know for some reason i feel like i won't be able to make it..... i tried the scedule thing does not work at all for me..... i guess i am gonna have to either start living in the library now or get used to it........:(

Re: overwhelmed

Trust me your not the only one with that problem.. I have come up with a new schedule that should keep me focused with my classes.
Basically study every day as if your having a final exam the next day and that way you will be on top of everything and hopefully won't become a procrastinator. Oh yeah try to keep socializing to a minimum... I think thats what really messed me up.

Study hard during the weekdays and then on weekends you might have some time to CHILL. Good Luck

Re: overwhelmed

that does not work for most of us here.... i think because of the work and classes during the week.
so i basically try to be as much attentive i can during the classes and try to remember most of the stuff, kind of, so that whenever i sit down to study i will have the general idea instead of starting from the scratch.
i should come up with a schedule and try to divide my time accordingly. i am also having a problem and thats gaining weight.....because of the winter season i could not play cricket and most of my outdoor activities and this work and study routine is not helping at all. man i am messed up.

Re: overwhelmed

Another problem is that I'm always sleepy during the semester. So even though I do go to the library, or various other places, during my break to study, I always find myself dozing off (even though I might have been completely awake prior to sitting down to study). By the time I get home, I'm too exhausted to do anything, much less study, and while I may have my books open in front of me, I have to read the same paragraph several times before I understand it because I'm in a zombie-like state.

As much as I would like to study hard or follow a schedule every day so I can have the weekends to chill, my drowsiness causes a problem. I guess taking something with caffeine in it might help...though it worries me that I might end up getting addicted to it by the end of the semester (not to mention it would most likely lose its effects on me).

Can't wait till the holidays -- 3 more months to go!

Re: overwhelmed

Last semester in the beginning of the classes..i felt stressed out by looking at the amount of load of work...but very soon i came out of that phase..I take one day at a time and go from there...what i did was ke i sat down one day with all my six courses and their evaluations (those are by weeks)..and then i jotted down each of the segment in terms of date..and then i wrote them in two lists..one was a monthly list and one was weekly list. Usually i exactly knew what my assignments were all about..it was just a matter of sitting down and doing them. So, i always used to do my individual assignments a night before..or usually in the morning of the class as most of my courses were in the afternoon slot. As for group projects, i used to ask everyone to email me their part and then i would compile it..but most of the groups had procrastinators like me..so i used to take file folder, stapler, hole punch, front page, table of content, heading pages in the class..and used to compile everything there. Now the test and exams, i used to read for them..the night before or in the morning.

For my journal type assignments i used to write them on paper first and then used to type before mid term..and it was taking me a while..so after that i started typing journals as i thought about it. So, that's how i got my A's. Everyone in my class saw me smiling and i was always stress free..i made sure that i do absolutely nothing on weekends related to my studies. Therefore, i believe that one perform better when they are not worried..and i passed on this message to my classmates..and some girls told me later that their grades improved when they worried less. Secondly, students from my program used to run a volunteer program from 10 am - 12 pm everyday in library..where you could just walk in..ask question about review for test, assignments etc or study with them..i never went..so i am not sure how successful the program was..

I would say that if you problems staying up..why don't few of students work as a group..one talks about one topic etc..and so forth..it helps with the understanding of the topic and helps with test review..for me, i did a lot of folks in my program so it helped me to strengthen my learning outcomes.

Good luck!

isn't this a C & A thread?
