Pakistan Engineers to Form New Group
BAHRAIN: A new professional organisation for Pakistani engineers is to be officially launched in Bahrain in February, reports Gulf Daily News.
**The newly-formed Institute of Engineers Pakistan, Bahrain Chapter (IEPBC) has already attracted 40 members. A top-flight delegation from its parent group in Karachi is flying in for the official launch, said convenor Rizwan Mumtaz.
“The main aims and objectives of our institute are to promote and advance the science, practice and business of engineering in all its branches, to promote efficiency in the engineering practice and profession and regulating the professional activities and assisting in maintaining high standards and the general conduct of its members,”** said Mr Mumtaz.
The new group is affiliated to the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE), with which a memorandum of understanding was signed in November, at a ceremony at the BSE’s headquarters in Juffair.
An official launch will take place at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa (currently Le Royal Meridien Hotel) in the second week of February, said Mr Mumtaz.
Chief guest will be Pakistani Ambassador Major General (retired) Sabih Uddin Bukhari, who is the patron-in-chief of the institute and a qualified engineer.
“A six-member delegation from the Karachi headquarters of our parent organisation Institute of Engineers Pakistan (IEP), headed by president MP Gangwani, will attend this prestigious occasion,” said Mr Mumtaz.
“A special souvenir containing engineering topics and information about Pakistan is being published for the inauguration, to be presented to the distinguished guests.”
He said they would spread engineering knowledge by holding lectures, conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops and field visits.
“These technical functions keep the engineering community abreast with the latest developments, scientific techniques and contemporary research on vital issues,” said Mr Mumtaz.
He urged any Pakistani engineers who had not yet joined to do so.
Mr Mumtaz thanked BSE president Saeed Asbool and Pakistan Embassy Counsellor and Head of Chancery Nisarullah Baluch for their co-operation and support.
Pakistan Club chairman and Overseas Pakistani Advisory Council members Mohammed Usman welcomed the establishment of a Pakistani professional organisation that “will foster friendliness and enhance skills”.
