So those who are of pakistani origin…and naturalised citizens of western country…
who are they loyal to? Pakistan or their own ‘country’??
for example if there is situation in which lets say…‘british/american/dutch’ and pakistan are at odds…both for the sake of their own country’s best interest…
who would you people (overseas pakistani) support??
I've found that it's been easy to maintain my loyalties to both the country of my citizenship and to my parents' home country. But if my loyalties were tested, I'd like to think that my loyalty would be with the country on the side of righteousness.
I would want to support the country that is right.
Add to that, naturally people born and raised in Pakistan would be fiercely loyal to it. Why? Because its your home. Just like that, people born and raised in a "western" country have loyalties to their home as well. They acknowledge their roots but do not bite the hand that has fed them.
but the question is when your 'parents country' and your own country are at odds...
an example would be the 'afia siddiqi' case.....or this raymond guy...
or for that matter...keeping friendly govts in arab countries to secure the oil supply for USA......if america doesn't do that...it faces risk of things getting very difficult for its citizens ....
The beauty of living in the county of my birth is that if I disagree with a political policy I can constructively criticize my government and agitate for change. The effectiveness of the demonstrations or petitions aside, I can vocalize my disagreement with what the government is doing.
And more than that, the best way for me to register my disagreement is to vote against such a government. So yes, I can look at an issue from a human perspective and side with who is right - the country of my birth or the country of my parents' birth.
I agree with sehrysh and it just doesn't stand for people who are from outside. Recently, when the floods in Paksitan happend a lot of people who were "canadians" criticized the response by the goverment more than the people who were pakistani. Thats how things are suppose to work in an educated society, where disagreements are suppose to happen and people need to voice their opinion in a civil manner.
My loyalty is to the country of my Birth. Pakistan
To the Faith I have accepted Deen ul Islam.
To my loved ones and friends wherever they are.
If anything comes between any of these then I will always support that to which I am loyal.
Allah forbid such a day but if my homeland was in danger and then I would go back even if I had to walk most of the way.
I am loyal to Great Britian too, not the Monarchy or Politicians but the people majority of whom are decent persons... I pay my tax I work a very difficuilt job which few Asians do and which is good to community.
But if I ever had to choose between one or the other I have no shame in saying with pride that I am Pakistani.
That said if I fear Pakistan my homeland ever becomes a place I could not live in then I will do all neccassary to help retake it for Pakistani's

Recently my sister went to Pakistan and was surprised to find out that majority of the people are happy that Salman Taseer was murdered.
It makes no sense to blindly support a country in every single cause just because my parents were born there. Um no.
In that case you wouldn't be supporting the country but the misguided deluded mullahs of the country. Their views have no bearing on the official Pakistani stance on the murder.
there are many pakistanis that support the taliban just becus they are fighting kafir americans, right or wrong?
don't understand their viewpoint at all and on what they are basing it on. overseas pakistanis feel the same ways?
No, it doesnt. It depends on what is right and wrong. Its not that hard to understand that the killing of innocent lives is wrong. There is nothing that depends on the person involved. Its just our way of making our own "der eent ki masjid".

.
if you go by the comments in world affairs/pak affairs many would say that it's america that is killing innocent muslim lives and that is wrong. i don't agree with them but i see those posts
Would agree with supporting the country that is right.
Is it just me or do you guys find that Pakistani bred people are generally fiercely patriotic whereas those abroad aren't thaatt bothered. In the Uk there isn't even a particularly huge level of patriotism of the native British people for their country.. It's just like meh..
