Is it normal to ask your 23-yr old-very mature daughter not to open the door for anyone if you are home alone? That too living in america in a nice suburban area? :-s

I've heard of grown up women taking the same precautions so I don't think it's unreasonable.

Perhaps the situation may not be so bad in other cities and countries, but rape and break-ins have become quite common in Toronto and vicinity. Therefore, many of us have to take serious precautions when it comes to stepping outside or opening the door. In many cases cell phones have become a necessity as well.

oh and my dad hates it when I am driving in/around areas he doesnt know too welll...and if the drive is more than 30-40 mins I have to go with my brothers sigh
