Guys, I need help overcoming fatigue, it is affecting my life big time. I am too tired to even do dishes (doing dishes anyways causes nausea) We don’t have any help, I would like to be able to cook and clean a little bit. I am trying to eat healthy and have cut out caffeine completely… I know it will get better by the second trimester inshAllah but I would like to not be sleeping all day long.
It is also affecting my work, 2 hours of being at work and then I’m all wasted… pls help with tips and tricks that might have worked for you guys…
I was put on folic acid tabs the day they found I was pregnant.... I have an appt with the doctor today should I ask the dr. to run some tests to check my iron levels or do they do it as part of a routine pregnancy checkup...
Try to take iron and multivitamin supplements anyway, they should help, but some people find that this increases nausea and vomiting, so if it makes it worse, then review the situation.
If u feel your blood sugar is low, drink sweet drinks little and often, say up to a few sips every half an hour or so. Eat slow energy releasing foods like bananas.
Do your work in 5 minute increments, e.g. take 5 mins to move the dishes to the sink, then take a good rest. Then take 5 mins to wash the dishes and take a break.
Ask hubby to help u out in these 1 or 2 months, HE GOT U INTO THIS POSITION so he should take some of the pain! Really, it can be VERY DRAINING so u can save the dishes for him to wash after work.
Cooking - when u have a good day, cook more n freeze in serving sizes. For yourself just steam some veg n potatoes. He can get some takeaway and get him to cook for u too. Like I said it's not forever.
they should be doing a blood test on u anyways... when i was planning on pregnancy, i started folic acid immediately.. a few months later i got pregnant and was told iron or vit supplements are not necessary... i didnt listen and took maternity vits myself alongwith iron.. by the tiem i hit 2nd trimester, fatigue hit big time (i was goin to school aswell as housework).. had blood tests done and was shocked to find my iron levels were very low.. so doc said ok u can start iron suplements.. i was quite angry at her .. cuz if i had left it to her and not taken supplements myself, my condition would ahve been far worse than it was...
there are very few women who can maintain an excellent iron level during pregnancy with no help from supplements.. most women need them.
but ya.. if ure doctor doesnt have blood work done on u, ask her to.. explain ure fatigue and weakness.
if ure iron level is fine... do what rupay has said.. take things slowly.. horomones are all over the place and its natural to feel tired ... diff women diff exp.. some get it bad in the beginning, some at the end.. and some just have it bad for the whole 9 months.
i was like you very tired all the time but then my blood test showed i was anaemic and as soon as i started taking iron tablets i felt much better again.
First trimester is really tiring. Take advantage of it if you can and rest as much as possible. You have a little bean inside of you that is rapidly growing, and draining you in the process. I remember when I was in my first trimester, I had to rest and sleep a lot. It passes once you get into your second trimester. Just take it easy.
Rest as much as you can! I napped frequently in the first trimester. It was actually wonderfully amazing (I've never been much of a sleeper).
Do also let your doctor know and make sure you get the normal prenatal bloodwork done to check for iron levels and such things. But don't worry; the fatique is pretty normal.
