Don’t you think the last para should have been:
We need to start a mosque that is run by more sane muslims, and actually do things right.
Don’t stereotype though in hindsight most of it maybe correct. Our criteria is not being young and American.

Re: Overboard?
PCG, what your definition of "Americanized"?
Re: Overboard?
funny thing is that if this were a worldly matter where we have to wait in lines or what have you for hours and hours, we will do it. But since this was a religious matter, there is a hype and complaints all around. This shows a lack of discipline and patience in ourselves. The reason we get impatient quickly because we go to masjid to 'get over' the obligation instead of loving and caring about it. And no one is doing this for anyone else or giving any favour to anyone , for Allah's Love, this is for our own selves.
Obviously, the Imam needs to pay some attention to other things and make sure that he does not prolong it or make it difficult for the people. However, at the same time, people also need to show some patience and discipline and it was Sunday for Allah's Love.
The hadith you are quoting, in fact the site you are quoting, most salafis follow this, why? Because it's convenient for them.
wa as-salamu alayka bro
right...so following a hadith and valid ikhtilaf is somehow a bad 'convenience'. But shoving a hanafi opinion down people's throat is somehow fine. The ulama differ over whether Eid salah itself is obligatory let alone the two kuhtbahs after it. Hence, there is a valid ikhtilaf in this issue so let people follow whichever they want.
In addition, most of the salafis are hanablis, so let them follow their madhab just as you want them to leave you alone and let you follow hanafi madhab.
the valid ikhtilaf is not picking and choosing, specially when there are number of ahadith supporting it. Which hanafi scholar told you that in matters of ikhtilaf you are picking and choosing from deen? And then you people say we do not have any ta'ssub and bigotry against hanbalis but it is clearly written all over it.

Respected bro
I know your intentions are good but to play down our faults by guising it as a lack of passion for Allah SWT love is not something you or I could predict or judge, for only Allah SWT knows what is in the hearts. Additionally, when someone is complaining about something that is absolutely justified this is not the way to reconcile or win them over. We do not have to make a habit of always trying to find fault in the complainant.

bro, you may be hanbali, fine. but you know very well when it comes down to it, most wannabe hanbalis love to follow different rulings. really, nothing of importance to me. but u can't deny the fact that more n more people are doing it out of convenience. that post of mine was for not meant for you anyway.
Re: Overboard?
Sister PyariCgudia
Did you raise this complaint with the Mosque committee and if so what did they say?
Re: Overboard?
Yeah I actually wrote them an email.
I got the usually Jazakallah sister, thank you so much for your feedback, we need bright young people like you to get involved, and I am forwarding it to the rest of the board members.
Haven't heard from anyone since.
Re: Overboard?
PCG, its good to complain and try to correct the problem.
But your approach seems very irrational here sorry to say.
Merely sending an e-mail does not mean anything nor posting on a forum helps.
Come on. Be realistic
When you have problem with any worldly problem, you most likely take it on its face value, but all of a sudden when a Masjid people do something you did not like, you wrote on it.
I am not saying your complain is not justified and there are no Imams who just go on to Khutbas for a long time, but you know as well as others know that there is not compulsion in religion and those who want to to leave can leave.
Its a great time for family to enjoy which should be and I have seen people (men and women with children leaving early and quietly with no problem)
Did you or anyone else get beaten up by a stick or got locked up in the jail for leaving early?
As for the hot tent, this might have been out of necessity and lack of resources.
Next time give more donation to the Masjid or ask your husband (if married) to donate more.
No Masjid that I know does this on purpose. Get involved in the affairs or talk directly to people in charge next time.
Thanks.
Re: Overboard?
Erm, it was speeches, and duas being done between ishaa and taraweeh; and an extremely long speech before the wrap up dua on eid. You can't just walk out, because they're slipping these things in between two mandatory parts of the services, so people have to remain sitting.
The solution to a disorganized mosque is not to "donate more".

I was referring to the use of tent. That is to accommodate large number of people with limited resources.
I do agree long speeches especially in Arabic (not so common by the way since most of speeches are in local languages) make people feel they are even longer.
Best thing s to talk with responsible people personally- No one does these things on purpose.
