whats with kam*nay grandparents who overachieve and are self-made and leave unremovable marks…
esp if yr parents r like nothing near them? ![]()
does any one have to contend with this? its like carrying a flimsy name everywhere, which you know made a failure out of your own parents, but it follows you around like two diverging reptiles feeding on you…

Divert your attention by constantly telling yourself, how much you respect your elders for having achieved what no one else possibility could, even if they lived ten more lives. How you should be appreciated and respected for being born in that family. And that your greatest task in life is to make sure everyone knows about their achievements and that they’re remembered by your grandkids as well as their great grandkids. Oh and how you can’t even think of adding to their success as that would be so disrespectful and sinful.

I have the same thing going on in my family. My grandparents/great-grandparents generation were awesome - innovative, highly successful, did really original things for the city of Karachi in their time.
Their offspring haven’t made it that big in comparison.
I always have found it a source of inspiration though. I keep telling myself - I’m from these khandans, so there is plenty that I can do as well.
