The Govt seems to be very sensitive and concerned about the overseas Pakistanies, and often says that they should have right to vote, they should have right to contest elections and bla bla bla…
well there is piece of advice to the govt… leave the above two and provide the Overseas Pakistanies with the following:
Facilities in the Embassies, that is getting their passports, getting their documents attested, getting their other work done, please treat them with respect and provide them all the facilities without creating bureaucratic hurdles… this is one way to start
Please treat them with respect and dignity at the airports, they are not terrorists, and they are not drug dealers, both of these only enter airports premises when they are in connection with the FIA and ASF.
The scenario is, when they are at the airport for boarding, most of them with families, are treated as they are here to collect charity!!! huge lines, no place to sit for women or kids… and remember, flights bound to europe or US, one may have to spend some good 1 or 2 hours just to get their boarding cards..
Sames when overseas Pakistanies lands in Pakistan, huge ques, people tired of long flights, have to wait for long long time to get their passport stamped, and then get their luggage, where the porters are there to harass and then comes the custom counter.. no need to talk about them… yes things have improved a little but lot more is needed
Provide the one window operation facility to Overseas Pakistanies to start their businesses in Pakistan, the lengthy process which on papers take 20 days, in reality can take more than 45 days just to get the business register with dozen of govt organizations..
Most of Overseas Pakistanies are subject to the fraud and scam by the local, most of the frauds are likes of Malik Riaz’s Bahria Town etc, and then overseas Pakistanies have to fight a long long long legal battle which they cannot because they are not in Pakistan, please provide them with facility of Speedy courts…
There are lot more things other then above, which this govt can do, lets not stress on the representation in the parliament..
^^ There is something we don't know, maybe Bilawal or any other close aide of Zardari is dual national and this bill is there to save them, as we all know, PPP might launch Bilawal in next elections and their election campaign would be against the establishment, the death of ZAB and BB and then the new face of BHutoo and BB i..e Bilawal... if Bilawal is dual national, then all this would be ruined... because he may not able to file his papers

1- I think it is most easiest to get the Pakistani Passport comparing to the rules & regulation of any other Embassy/Consulate. But still some pplz think they should be treated as VIPs.
2- I heard from that from those Pakistani who visited USA first time, were naked in security room while checkup at airport. Atleast you won't heard such at Pakistani airport.
3- When I visited Pakistan, many porters asked me if I need their assistance and I said 'No thanx' with a simple smile and that's all. No harrasment nothing else.
Overseas Pakistanis are main source of foreign exchange. Most of them earn honest and hard earned money, which they send to their families/ invest in Pakistan. Giving them rights to vote and contesting elections should not be objected, unless the country where they live do not allow dual nationality and people who opt to renounce Pakistani citizenship.
NADRA is fully computerized and even if dual nationality holder voted so whats wrong in that? eventually they'll know how many dual nationality holder voted whom or what?
2) Right to contest election if they fulfill a pre-defined residency requirement for their constituency. For example a law that they can contest election if they are living in the constituency for at least 3 years etc etc
3) They should not be allowed to run for key posts like President, PM, Governors, CMs etc.

Patriotism has nothing to do with single or dual nationality. As a sanity check, we can make law that dual citizen ship holders can not hold the key spots like president, PM etc etc

Agreed but u missing one important point and that is "Legal Protection". Why foreign country provide legal protection to them?
All of the above mentioned got all sort of protection when they needed so, no you do not need dual citizenship to get protection from foreign countries....

Moin Qureshi a dual national, an interim PM of Pakistan, never to seen again... where did he go... somwhere in the west
Shoukat Aziz aka Short-cut Aziz, finance minister, PM and gifted Pakistan with Circulat debt....mega corruption, something which NS and BB couldn't dream in there dreams... when his term was over, he never looked back.. why should he... he made billions... his list of crime is too long
