I think I intimidate my seniors. I have been receiving customers’ compliments for an excellent customer service attitude for three years now. There were 2/3 emails (within a period on 4 months in the new section) which came through mentioning the same about ME. And 2/3 customers (within a period of 4 months in the new section)asked to transfer their lines to speak with my immediate incharge to acknowledge my good quality customer support.
3 days ago I was not feeling too well and was also frustrated at the constant absence of recognizing my good efforts and ignoring these customers’ comments by my seniors. I pissed of a customer. He was aggressive and I got irritated.
Next day they sent me a 4 paragraphed mail with 15 points I need to improve about my work. AND they mentioned, “Despite repeateted advices and instructions in the past”. This has left me in shock. Not only cz there was absolutely no “instructions” in the past but also cz… they never acknowledge my good work even verbally before.
It is getting so hard… to take this hypocricy anymore.
that's pretty pathetic indeed... the corporate culture seems cut-throat but in answer to your question whether there is such a thing, I've been called "over ambitious" in the past - needless to say, I left the company the instance I found a better job. When you know you're doing the right thing, and you're confident about the positive value your ideas and services can bring into your firm and you're still not appreciated, that's not my kinda job.
i regret wasting my three years on them. the senior management has some common sense. they understand. they protect at many occasions. this is what had kept me here until now. but it frustrates you when your immediate seniors originally have a mind more useful for the hunting / killing in the mountins.
i respect the senior management. i have emailed to them. let's see what they understand and how they resolve this issue. if they're obliged to agree with those they have put into authority rather than allow unconventional methods of doing things and new, innovative minds then i may not be here in the near future.
dont worry baout that, the 3 years have been well used and mustve taught you a lot. and whether or not they say it, must have been very useful for them too. if you do make decisions to move on, just try and make sure one thing; that it all happens on a professional and understanding note on both sides. i mean dont have a fight or bad taste, just explain your side and when you leave make sure the relationship isnt destroyed (one never knows in this professional world when one might need an old contact again) and youre given due acknowledgement for your services, that is you get all that’s due, in rewards, letters and so on.
best luck :k:
well, the senior management is very very sensible i must say, MashaAllah. they understood everything without me telling them. i just wrote three lines and got a positive response. they carried out some internal investigations and told me to stay optimistic. finally, the the T/L excused and said "it was not a warning", just a piece of "advice". LOL, an "advice" cant have too harsh words in it like it did. So, anyway, i made it very clear to them that the reason i am still with them is not cz i wanna keep doing what i am doing. i stated in clear words what i wanted and did not expect my superiors to ignore all my efforts and i dont want my hardwork to go unnoticed anymore as has happened in the past. many good people have left the company cz of this unfair treatment. i think now they are concentrating on retaining good people. they cant tell those old idiots to leave cz they are idiots cz atleast they are performing their jobs, although creating troubles for the bright and smart but their junior. that black man is a jerk. May God deal with him.
well, actually, it brings back my optimism when i sense that the senior management understands what going on. really… i mean… receiving their mail, it has calmed me down. and actually, i said everything that was on my mind so… hmm… let’s see what they gonna do abt it.
i make blunders. i made a blunder. i really regret it. im extremely naive.
too bad!!!
they offered me to be a training co-ordinator assistant. i refused saying i wanted to be a s/v. now this section where i stand a chance to be the s/v is full of snakes........... they are creating new troubles for me daily. daily.... new troubles have started to happen. they are succeeding. i am losing my patience and stregnth to fight anymore. im highly doubtful i can fight them anymore. they are too many.
i regret. i think i made a mistake not to accept the first offer. i could have atleast lived in peace if i did.
i am trying to find the exit door but no clue. i cant just quit. i have extremely high regards for the senior management. they are who gave me the first offer. i think they were able to see what i wasnt...... the snakes. maybe they knew it that's why they offered that cz in that case i would have no longer had to deal with these snakes. but i made a blunder. so i stay where i was cz they have made things so very complicated for formal investigation. they are trying to prove im incapable.
Asif2000, 3 years................. i move on and start as new???
NWB, Don’t let the 3 years keep you from moving on - make them your strength and leverage some better opportunities elsewhere. InshaAllah you’ll do well! :k:
Start an active job search now and once you gain momentum, give’m your notice.
Thanks for the link Asif. Im going through it now.
Umar I am searching but not as actively as I should. Until now, have only one genuine offer. The designation of a team leader but maybe less pay. Not a very big organization. If I do have to change, it should be better than what I have or do I just leave to avoid the daily mental torture?
well - ultimately you will need to make the decision... the smaller company might pay lesser but if the position is better suited to what you would like to do, and if it saves you from the undue stress of your current workplace - those are two advantages that might outweigh staying put in a higher paying job. Besides there may be more flexibility and opportunities to quickly move up to an even better position in a small company if you work hard - you'll be more visible.
the important thing that I see here is that , if you are good, then the employer always expect you to be good otherwise they get disappionted if you mess up later. In one episode of 'THE APPRENTICE' Donald Trump fired a contestant because he/she was NOT consistent. Try to be consistant in your work. For now, just relax and don't over react .
