Punjabi Latifaa
There was a pretty successful Chaudri Sahib in a pind. One night some robbers came to his house to rob him. They put him on
his Manji (Bed) and tied his arms and legs to the four corners of the manji. After looting everything from his house they left the
poor Chuaudry tied on the bed.
The next morning some people were passing by and they saw Chaudry Sahib tied on the bed with his Dhoti all messed up.
They came in and untied him.
As soon as he was free, Chaudry picked up a stick and began to beat his Katta! (Baby Cow!)
Oye ay kee karday O Chuadry Sahib!! The people said. Dakoo tay lai gaye jo lajaana see! Vicharay Kattay nu kiyon marday
ho?
(The robbers are gone. Why are you beating the poor cow?)
And the Chaudry says:
O tay lai gaye tay lai gaye! Iss bhaan chood noon dahee (2.5) saal ho gaye nay, ainooN aaj tikar muj day thun tay banday day
lun da farak ee nahin patta lagiya!!
