I have a big wedding coming up in a few weeks, and as per usual.. I am clueless about what to wear. I have never really put in much effort when it comes to weddings (as they are not normally this close).. so don’t know what the traditional style is
For the mehndi - I was think those sort of anarkali dresses, with the chudidar that are in - perhaps that deep red colour with green, or maybe yellow with green. Are you supposed to be ‘dressy’ at the mendhi - eg, should I get clothes with lots of sparkle, or keep it simple??
And for the main days, WHAT to wear ??
Oh my hair is a disaster at the moment, need to get it cut - should I keep it long - what kind of style would look nice for the mehndi??
Help would be appreciated, Im a total fashion flop
^ As a friend, girls are expected to dress up and look nice...esp if they're kunwari :D
mehndi--u can wear anarkali or churidar...any color is fine, it doesnt have ot be OTT and full of kaam, even a little bit of kaam is okay..as long as it makes your figure look good. Paranda is always nice, whether hte outfit is bling blingin or simple.
And along w/ what Sara wrote, don't wear red on the baraat. And wearing flower earrings instead of regular earrings looks hot when worn w/ a churidaar dress. Like hoops made out of tiny white flowers. They are usually thin compared to the bride's thick ones and look so great!

yikes, I really ought to get cracking then.. whats kunwari mean??
Wow, i never considered wearing a paranda, thanks for that. For the main days - should I go lengha style?? Would I get away with salwar kameez.. or should I leave that?
edit - oh and should I stick with the traditional yellow/green/ gold combo at the mehndi, or do people wear other colours?
its like a kameez - lots of kaam - but not in the OTT sense. Its got a baggy salwar - the fabric is a silky red/green colour. It has no sleeves, this tends to be 'in' nowadays :/ Should i sew some short sleeves or go sleeveless, bearing in mind nikkah is before the mehndi...

does your family tend to mind that? if not, then go for it! i personally like sleeves on any bridal outfit whether it be for mehndi or engagement etc but if you really the outfit, do what suits you :)
tht combination of red and green wud def. look hot. Even i m attendin a weddin of a close relative this weeknd.. wearing an anarkali on mehndi its a combo of mustard, dull gold and dried mehndi green color. baraat i m keeping it white its got kaam of swarovski crystals and beads in sequince..(looks just wow to me :P)
