Outfit totally ruined

My cousin’s having his mehndi on Saturday. I was really happy until I looked at my mehndi outfit. It’s brand new and I can’t understand how it’s coming apart. I wore it twice to see how it looks on me. Maybe the kapra’s coming apart because I walked in it for 5-10 minutes? the embroidery must’ve done this to the material? I can’t even do anything to make it better right now. I was shocked when I saw it and still am. I feel like crying my eyes out. It’s a gharara/sharara ( the 2 legged one). I’ll post pics here. I don’t think anyone can help me out but I don’t maybe someone can come up with a bright idea :frowning:

pics gone

I’m going to burst into tears. I got this especially made for the mehndi and it so went with the song I was going to dance to :teary2:

Re: Outfit totally ruined

MKD once ur wearing this I don't think others will be able to tell, only u coz u know its there. have u tried stretching the material slightly, so it goes back to its original form? try it, then put something over the gharara and iron over it. cut loose threads with a scissors and I'm sure it will be fine

next time always use tissue paper (the kind u get for wrapping gifts) to cover all the delicate bits and fold away

Re: Outfit totally ruined

I cut the threads with scissors CE. When I pull the fabric nothing happens. I figured what happened. The stupid kapra gets stuck to the kaam on the other leg when you walk and that's what ruined it. I shouldn't have tried it on :( I'm going to show it to my mom in the morning.

Re: Outfit totally ruined

Oooo I see. but even if u fix it and wear it again on the day the same thing will happen no?

Re: Outfit totally ruined

Yes and it might get worse then :hmmm:

Re: Outfit totally ruined

That happened a lot to my jahez clothes where the embroidery on the sleeves pulled the threads from the kameez. One way to minimise the look was to make it a bit damp ( like just with a spray bottle ) with a bit of starch in it, and iron it gently. The starch puts a bit of a protective layer on the material . good luck

Re: Outfit totally ruined

im not sure whats going on with it-- seems like the hem is coming out too?
you should just restitch it by hand.
hem it or even do the running stitch (twice) to make it strong enough to at least hold until the end of ur event.
go over both the gotes, and it should be fine. do it as neatly as possible. it wont be too obvious as its not a plain fabric.

Re: Outfit totally ruined

OMG such a lovely outfit. I love the colour. I pray that some of the suggestions mentioned above help and you will be able to wear it on the day. Inshallah

Re: Outfit totally ruined

OOu:( Just stitch it. Dont wear it just like that.

Re: Outfit totally ruined

aww that sucks man. I dont understand how all these kaam walas cnt tell which fabric is gonna be ok with the embriodery they r gonna be doing on it. dats really retarted.

MKD, get it stiched by hand... and go over the kaam very carefully with a clear nailpolish! It WORKS! I used to have work on sleeves that damaged my dupatta..and clear nailpolish helped a great deal! :)

Re: Outfit totally ruined

Gina you are a star.

Re: Outfit totally ruined

You guys are so sweet. I really appreciate all the advice you gave me. I was heart broken when I saw the outfit. This always happens to me before a mehndi :( I put some clear nail varnish on the embroidery and showed my mum the gharara. We came up with an idea. I'm going to Fenwicks tomorrow InshAllah, hopefully I shall be able to find ribbon that is the exact same colour or maybe silver ribbon to put it right below the embroidery. What do you guys say, silver or turquoise ribbon? ( The dopata has like a silver ribbon or pati thing on it)

Re: Outfit totally ruined

i think silver

Re: Outfit totally ruined

Silver would look pretty.

Re: Outfit totally ruined

where is the pic?!

Re: Outfit totally ruined

Iyla it disappeared :p

Re: Outfit totally ruined

I didnt see the pictures so I dont know what was wrong with the suit...but what does the nail polish help with?

Re: Outfit totally ruined

It keeps the embroidery from getting stuck to the material, like embroidery on the sleeves getting stuck to the dopata.
