Outfit Ruined

Girls, advice needed. On a recent trip to Lahore, I forked out £200 on a custom made outfit from Zardosi. I picked it up on the day of return and had no time to try. I tried it on last night in preparation for a friend’s mendhi at the weekend. The problem is that the shoulders are way to big, at least an inch bigger at each shoulder. As a result there’s a lot of loose material hanging under the shoulder and it makes me look bulky. The problem is that there is embroidery done on the shoulders right to the edge. I can attempt to remove some of the stones so that the shoulders can be cut but this will also shorten the bell-shaped sleeves which will look stupid. There is no margin in the sleeves to increase the length.

What are my options? Straighten the sleeves and make them 3/4 length. Can the shoulders be corrected given that there is embroidery there. I think I need to take this to a professional Indian tailor. Any suggestions of good tailors around Berkshire or London area

Please advise

You could fold and have the side of the 'gala' sewn. This will actually 'pull-up' the droppy shoulders.

Re: Outfit Ruined

Is it possible for u to post a pic so we can have an idea what could be done?

u should have tried it on yar..i mean dont u know how darzis/kamwalas in pakistan r ..even the big names urgg...i think u would have to take it to a pro tailor..i say go for quarter sleeves n get the shoulder fixed

If you remove the entire sleeve, take-off some of the 'kaam' you might be able to wear it well.

Re: Outfit Ruined

yup, post pic so we can give u a better idea

Re: Outfit Ruined

Thanks for your advice girls. I had to pick up the suit in a hurry, it was the day after the suicide attacks at Data da Darbar in Lahore and all shops were closed. I was lucky that I had taken the mobile number of the guy who served me so that i could collect the outfit. I was also due to fly back that night :( I've learnt my lesson.

Will try posting a pic tonight but I think Gina is right, I will get the sleeves unstitched, remove some of the stones etc at the shoulder to get them sorted out and see how short the sleeves become. If considerable difference, will make them 3/4 length.
