Re: outdoor wedding in toronto
I got married at Parkwood Estate. its BEAUTIFUL and you get the whole estate to yourself, and also, being outside Toronto, prices are reasonable too. however, their caterers will do halal but will not allow anyone else to come in. we opted to have a "live" BBQ with a chef grilling halal steak for our guests on site (but outside the tent) and lots of yummy accompaniments plus a desi style spicy chicken and veggies gravy-based dish and fresh bread. the salad was amazing too, amongst other things.
their capacity is 200 guests for the English garden and 250 for the tennis courts, but the English garden is where its at, so if you go with them, get married there.
i also attended a wedding in Liuna Gardens. its also nice but they also seemed to have a smallish hall and its in hamilton, so you might have to pay more if you bring in outside caterers since they'd have to travel so far.
we looked into Kortright Center and had almost booked it, in fact, before we opted for Parkwood. its very pretty and open- you can opt to have a tent or have it indoors. the glass hall, if i remember correctly, only does cocktail hour and receptions are inside. their indoor reception area is NOT impressive, so if you go with them, go with the tent option. i think they do allow outside catering, but you'd have to confirm with them.
Eaton Hall is another place we looked at but its really expensive. i'm not sure what budget you're working with, so maybe it'll work for you, but it was definitely out of our range. and if Eaton Hall works for you, then check out Graydon Hall too. they have lovely grounds as well and they're in Toronto.
as with most tented weddings, keep in mind that the cost of tent is apart from the cost of the venue rental. to give you a rough idea, we paid about $22 per person (per person cost is how tents are sized and costed out), plus about $50 per head for dinner per person, plus taxes and gratuities, at Parkwood Estate. we also only had 96 guests though, so it worked out.
please don't let this be discouraging though- if you want an outdoor wedding, set a budget for maximum spend and then proceed from there. i'm sure with enough research, you'll find a great place to get married outdoors iA! :)
