out of 16 crore people ,how many registered voters voted and how many stayed away from voting–Any figures available
Re: out of 16 crore --how many voted
Generally, after each elections, the Election Commission announces a 55-60% voter turn-out, which is highly respectable.
Though there are persistent suspicions that the actual percentages are usually lower and in the 25-40% range. This is not too shabby either.
I don't have any reason to doubt that this will be true this time around too.
Re: out of 16 crore --how many voted
There are around 80 million or so registered voters in Pakistan out of a total population of 160 million people
The voter turnout was strikingly low in some areas (5-10% in Baluchistan) and high in others (up to 69% in parts of northern Punjab), with an estimated national average of 45.9%, a figure higher than the last two elections.
If we take the higher estimate of 45.9%
0.459 X 80 = 36.72 million (or 3 crore, 67 lac, 20 thousand) people voted in this election
