Ah yes…so we have finally arrived in London after a week’s break in Beautiful Egypt. Went for a week…had an amazing spiritual, exhilerating, religious time ever. Getting pics developed today and will load them up soon Inshallah.
Day 1 - We rested as we were tired from our flight from London Gatwick. Took about 5 hours.
Day 2 - We were looking to book excusions esp Mount Sinai (Gebel Musa) that we are going to climb and trip to Petra, Jordan. Met with the tour operater and booked all these plus quad biking for today. That was amazing. Me and hubby both sat on individual ones and it lasted 2hrs. Met some bedouins and were served some tea. All was video recorded by a camera man who was following us plus other people on bikes. It was the best experience but not so much as to what we were going to go through tomorrow. We were surrounded by mountains and terrain. It was pure desert with one or two flower here and there.
Day 3/4 - Rested again after the quad biking. 10pm tonight we got picked up by our local tour operator who was also our guide. We drove for 2hrs to the mountain. We started our climb at 1.30am. There were 2 ways you can go to the top - 1 using the terrain path or 2nd - the 3750 steps of Repentence which apparently is much harder. Oh Gosh, it was beautiful - pure darkness and millions and millions of stars in the dark sky. Took some pit stops to have a rest for about 5-10mins. The wind was howling. It was very very rocky and we were surrounded by huge boulders which you had to hold on to for safety when you were climbing dangerous points. We aimed to get to the peak. You can get on the camel but its not the same thing. I wanted to experience what Hazrat Musa
went through. We got to the top but we still had 750 steps to climb which had to be done by foot. We got to the point where you start the climbing the steps and off we went again. Half an hour later - i ran to the peak and got the point where Hazat Musa
was. We got there 5.45am Oh it was amazing! I havent been to Umrah as yet and this was the closest i could get to Allah Tallah and subhanallah it was just breathtaking. It was very cold as well as you were at a v high altitude. We waited for the sunrise and after 20mins we saw it…a little semi circle of red and orange, slowly rising. Half way through there was light…it was a very beautiful moment..
We started our descent 15mins after the sunrise - that was much harder than the ascent. Didnt stop for a break - it took us about 2hrs to get down. We had some breakfast at a local restaurant which was good as we needed the break. We also visited St Katherine’s Monastry which was good. Alot of Russians there as they consider it a very religious place.
We started to make our way back to the hotel - got there at 4.30pm on thurs and rested as we had to get up 3am in the morning for our flight to Jordan..
Day 5 - Fri morning at 6.45 - our flight to Aqaba in Jordan. Drove for 2hrs to Petra - started our excusion to the valleys and canyons plus the treasury. Came across beautiful sceneries and caves. Again met some beautiful hospitable bedouin ppl. Spent 5hrs there - alot of walking involved. Got back to the hotel at 8.30pm and now we were tried.
Day 6/7 - Rested all day on Sat and went out to dinner in the evening. Lazed about with dessert, drinks and of course sheesha. Everything was amazing and this rounded off our holiday in a very romantic way ![]()
Alhumdullilah. Will post the pics inshallah very soon.
