our lovely oldies

Who has heard the following remarks, from our dear oldies::nessy:
“In our day we had it sooooooo bad, when we came to this country we had to share rooms wid 6 + people including uncles, aunties, grandparents in one room” ( so how did my extended family get here???)
we used to save on electricity etc, never used to spend so much on material things etc ( wat would she say about our gucci shoes and handbags  )

I started this thread cause my sil left on the lights in the lounge and my gran who came to visit said:aj: u should never waste things even when u have so much:ASA:, and gave us a long lecture on how life was hard 4 them, I know life was hard for them, and they mean well as I love my gran.:bulbuli:
but we r like :k337:
can u guys relate 2 this??

Re: our lovely oldies

No - I can't relate. My dad sometimes says stuff like that but today's kids can't even fathom what they are talking about

Kids these days (my bro included) are so consumer dirven and live in the "NOW" these days.

Thank God that going green is considered to be cool these days - otherwise no one would even care about recycling.

Re: our lovely oldies

I used to get upset when my parents talked that way but now that I am a parent myself, I often catch myself things like that!

i know wat u mean :smack:
i always get it from my dadiji and mummyji

Re: our lovely oldies

I can relate to it. I havent seen the conditions they lived in but I have worked hard to get where i am today and when comparing where I started I wouldnt let my children just be so spoiled that they forget to be caring towards the climate and environment.

Mind it, but it is the over-usage and materialism that have created climate problems.
I agree with the elders that we need to be careful but I dont agree with the way they usually tell it to the youngsters. Usually elders would speak very loud and hysterical which isnt too attractive to the youngsters.
