Our leadership - "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto"

These days everybody (including me) is busy calling TTP different names. Their actions deserve it. TTP followers/supporters, as we all claim, are jaahil/ganwar/un-educated/low-IQ people. But what was our “democratic” leadership doing in 1990s? Was it any ‘constructive’? Sincere to people/land/country? Read the letter and share your conclusion:

Our "democratic" parties are hopeless. They cant do anything but talk and promise. They have to learn to deliver.

Is this a genuine letter? Why would she want to bring life in Pakistan to a standstill?

Does she think she is more important than Pakistan itself?

At times I feel sad that she died in such a way but then I remember how she has got richer whilst the poor have got poorer in Pakistan. She did not do anything for them. She made their lives worse.

I ask myself how many people have died unnecessarily because of poor healthcare which is all because of our corrupt leaders.

This letter is really scary. Is it retouched/doctored?

Re: Our leadership - "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto"

I read this latter some weeks ago as it was shared then I shared it in video gallery I think...

I mean CAN we call such person even "shaheed"? Was she protector of Islamic country or of her own interests?

aaho ;

It has been too long for people's patience - for people who used to believe that elections/elected-govts can do something for people - but everyone is failing them.

I do believe this letter is genuine, it has been reported in past as well (atleast its content) but this looks like actual copy.

She actually thrived on her father's name, she herself was nothing, she cashed in on the brand "Bhutto" which now Zardari is trying (changing his kids name).

Looks genuine to me.

It speaks of selfishness of our so called leaders. Just like Nawaz Sharif ran away at first opportunity when Mushy jailed him, just like Altaf Hussein ran away when he was about to be grabbed for his crimes. These leeches are here only to suck our blood out and build fortune on that. Look at Altaf Hussein, living a luxurious problem free life in England on bhatta money from Pakistan. Look at Ganja Sharif who stole millions in $$ from national exchequer in form of defaulted/forgiven loans. Look at Zardari, still minting money, how he grabbed the chief spot of PPP.

We need to improve ourselves so we can rid of such selfish leaders. We need to start from ourselves. Can we do it?

This letter is genuine and was circulated long before she was trying to come back............could have been one of the reasons there were so many against her coming back to power!

Re: Our leadership - "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto"

We elected her husband again. We are to blame, not the bhuttos.

Re: Our leadership - "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto"

The political parties have been busy in solidifying own bank accounts. The civilian government departments never function in the proper way. Just a handful departments are functioning well and that also because they are always in direct contact with media, RESCUE 1122, Motorway Police etc.

There is no proper checks on any government department/officer and had it not been the media which keeps an eye on everything, the public would have been unaware and filled with misinformation.

In 1990's and even after that, Armed Forces were sometimes called up to do the job of civilian government departments, e.g. Bhal safai (cleaning of streams and lakes in Punjab). The model, checks and balances and penalties for goverment officials should be strict in the same manner of the Armed Forces to atleast make the system as such that the culprit pays the price.

From the peon to directors, the system works in a well defined fashion which asks for money for any legal task and huge amounts for any illegal task. Nothing is impossible in Pakistan. The Political parties bring their own clowns as department heads and they know they have a 2 year or so term , so from the word GO, they start looting the public money.

The laws have been made as such that they can be bended or challenged as free-willed. Then again, the political parties use the law for own agendas. The favourite police SHO's and the judges are posted where to control certain police stations as well as courts.

MNA's and MPA's use the resources for personal reasons and these "positions" are sometimes bought. Imagine, if a SHO pays atleast 5 lacs to bring a certain "picket" or "checkpoint" in his area of Police Station to "loot" the commuters and drivers through "checking", how much would a post of MNA/MPA be!

Elections have always been rigged, external parties from US and KSA play their own part, and internally, sometimes politicians are paid to lose also, and paid handsomely, because the party in power will gather 10 times more in ruling term.

The system as such needs to be changed, but no one would change it because it favours everyone who runs it.

Re: Our leadership - "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto"

Shaheed BB had publicly expressed these opinions many time(except for indian army to engage Pak army on borders), so its not a surprise.

Re: Our leadership - "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto"

So what is the big deal? Her elected government was toppled by GHQ two times in a illegal manner. What can you expect from her? Send bouquet to GHQ for kicking her out? Her whole family including her father was targeted by military generals and dictators and killed. I think what she did was reaction to what ever happened to her.NS also tried to block the Musharraf plane to land at Karachi and replaced him. But it did not materialize as military was more powerful than NS who had so called heavy mandate from public.

Re: Our leadership - "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto"

^May be you missed this part

All supply to Pakistan should be disrupted so that normal life in Pakistan comes to a standstill.................use your influence on VP Singh........Indan military should engage Pakistan military on borders.

Some people belive any anti-Bhutto propaganda :cb:

So gullible :cb:

Jiyalah :D

And some people keep their heads buried in sand, they consider their leadership infallible.

Agreed.

Re: Our leadership - "Shaheed Benazir Bhutto"

I completely despised Benazir Bhutto and must confess to have felt a little relieved upon her assassination, but even I feel obligated to point out that I vehemently believe this letter to be a fabrication.

1) Peter Galbraith's name has not one, but two mistakes in its spelling!!!

2) The English grammar in the letter is absolutely terrible. Someone like Benazir, who had a fully English-medium education in Pakistan, and who studied at both Harvard and Oxford, and whose ability to argue in English was was eloquent enough to become elected president of the Oxford Union debating society, could not possibly have written English that is this bad.
On the other hand, her army of domestic opponents who were desperate enough to make a cheap shot at her certainly would have included many with English issues.....

3) Going into specifics on the english issue.... there are commas in the wrong places. Certain words in the middle of sentences are capitalised for no apparent reason at all, both nouns and verbs, except where the extra emphasis that capitals are perceived to bring would be most incriminating, such as "are told to Squeeze the Goverment".
Even worse, the name of the World Bank is written as "world Bank". Someone who both studied the activities of the World Bank at university and actually worked with it as Prime Minister would never have made this error.

4) Pakistani society as a whole is obsessed with F-16s in the belief, propagated by our own propaganda, that they were some kind of super-weapon. The letter goes along with this by stating that "The suspension of F-16 and its spares will bring the army to its sensens". Aside from the english spelling problem therein (What is sensens?), this is so obviously false. Lacking one kind of fighter plane could never have such an impact on any military. However, if you are fabricating a letter for a population that believes the F-16 is a super-weapon.... this claim would be political dynamite.

There are so many things wrong with this that make it an obvious forgery.
