Our Kids

I’ve been thinking…
Yes for a change I think too :smilestar:

so I have been thinking, what kind of message are we giving our kids these days… I mean everyother day there’s a dhamaka in ur city, u see bloody images of those who died in the newspaper, whenever u go out and meet others the only topic u find urself discussing is how big was the blast, how many people died, and what stories those tell who survived the blast…

When the recent Marriot blast happened, I immediately started calling my dad and family to let them know we were okay. When I was finished I found my son sitting with his Dada watching the live coverage of the place.. There were injured people, people were screaming, they were showing devestating scenes of the place… I found him with a rather pareshan look… looking at the TV.. I knew he shouldnt be seeing these images, but it was late. I asked him politely to go to the other room and turn on his favorite channel… But he looked at me with such an expression which I will never forget, and said…

Mama, yeh accident ho gaya hai?

And here I was speechless, I said, haan baita accident ho gaya tha…
He asked again,
Mama ambulance aik uncle ko le ke ja rahi thi, un ka khoon nikal raha tha…
Then I told him, baita, accident main chot lag gaie thi, ab ambulance main un ko hospital le ke jaien gay aur woh theek ho jaien gay…

I know he shouldnt have been watching this on the first place… But the question is for how long… for how long will we be able to hide these images from our kids?

They sure know something wrong is going on in the country, I dont want the kids so young grow up with these images in their minds… getting confused about what’s going on… Or maybe things like these will become norm for them.

I dont know how to tell ur kid something really bad just happened, but its going to be okay. Because I know its not going to be okay.

I just pray Allah keeps everyone and our loved ones in HIS protection.
I cant sleep at night properly… Whenever I wake up, the first thing comes to my mind is a bomb blast… its consequences and the death toll.

Re: Our Kids

Hey there Sadaf, aslkm…

I know what you mean. We all try to shelter the little folks from the voilence and the chaos to protect them. But then sometimes we ask ourselves are we actually doing them a favour by keeping the truth from them. Its exceedingly hard to explain the concept of bloodshed, war, death to children. But sometimes truth comes out in such a harsh way staring you right in your face thats its impossible not to. A couple of months ago, a cousin of mine who was a doc in army, her convey was attacked with suicide bombers, and she was brutally injured. It was something that was just hard to keep from the kids of the family due to constant interaction with her.

Now how do u explain that to the little inquiring minds with questioning gazes? You just can’t. So you tell the little ones, that in this world there are some ppl who just like to hurt innocent ppl without any reason because they are mean, bullies and they like to see other ppl in pain. Its harsh I know, but trust me, in the end you will be doing them justice because it hurts them more to find the truth from another source and to discover that their parents didn’t tell them. The only thing to do now is just love your loved ones so much for pratically we truly do not know how many more moments we’ll be there with them or they with us. Life to me just hold no more gaurentees no matter how young or healthy or safe one is. I wish we all get our khoya howa chayn back
Sorry if this was a bit bleak :flower1:

Re: Our Kids

Allah Pakistan ko aur uskay awaam ko apni amman main rakhay. Ameen.
Allah fasadion ko jahanum raseed karay. Suma Ameen.
This is all I can say. I am speechless on all this senseless violence. What kind of changes , targets, or aims and ambitions someone hopes to achieve by killing few innocent citizens ?
