Our Global Village

I feel like the world has still advanced, and many muslims are still living in a village mentality.

So, my question is: Do you feel that muslims are each other’s worst enemies?

(applies to all levels: professionally, personally, politically, intellectually, list goes on)

Re: Our Global Village

nope...no muslim is enemy of ny other muslim...its human :D

Re: Our Global Village

I'd rather live a life free of cell phones, cars, computers and every sort of knick knack that has made human life worth only living to attain it...

Funny thing is, many devices were made to shorten time and bring ease...However, people in backward villages still have more time to sit down with family, relatives and friends, enjoy a good cup of chai and wake up the next morning knowing there wouldn't be a new bill for a cell phone overcharged or utility bill...

Less consumption, less demand, less competition, less hassle, less stress and so on...

What has technology given us anyways? Better healthcare? People in villges even lived longer and healthier lives...Both mentally and physically...

Re: Our Global Village

Ditto post...

Re: Our Global Village

Lajawab, this thread is not about all that. Focus my friend.

Re: Our Global Village

i remember my social studies book attributed it all to the hot weather.

Re: Our Global Village

Oh come one now! Serious replies.

Re: Our Global Village

i also attributed lack of economic success to hot weather having been interested in this subject in the past. basically it goes hot weather makes for lazy, lazy makes less competitive and left behined. once left behined and chasing alien models of economics and politics for sheer need can we be happy?

hot weather theory is no joke.

Re: Our Global Village

Define advanced... We live on a little place called earth, where do you live? and no we're not each other's worst enemies! The sole enemy is the advanced society that you look up to.

Re: Our Global Village

it applies to humans generally speaking. our species is degenerating.

Re: Our Global Village

hope is that many are
open minded and able to have a good mix of two way cross inter-pollination of ideas.

if focus will be only on the narrow minded,

the work of the open minded and yet values- conscientious will be berated an that is not good.

anything to save the real hard work of well intentioned needs to be up held, even when someone is hurt in the past for future is a lot more important and that needs perseverance to be positive and resilient, even hard on one self to make it all happen.

Re: Our Global Village

Croquet, for once, I agree with you. And it seems to me that natural selection is actually taking out the good ones! Its the a-holes who continue to live!

Re: Our Global Village

^i always had hope for us :D

PS:i am not really alive.

Re: Our Global Village

I think Muslims have their priorities confused... Religion, and politics of relgion are an obssesion for Muslims.
Religion has become illogical, it has become a retrogressive force.
Muslims need to live in this world... Focus on bettering oneself by integrating into this world...
But unfortunately, Muslim world has failed on all accounts... Education, the accumlation of knowledge, the passing on of knowldge... The fact that ever text book of merit comes from the Western world speaks for itself... The fact Japan alone produces more Phds the all of the Muslims countries combined speaks for itself.
Take the example of Abdus Salam, one of only a handful of Muslim Noble prize winners in the world and yet he recieves no attention or praise in his own country. And lets face it, it has everything to do with relgion.
Accomplishment is not defined by merit, or hardwork, but on religion!
Honestly, if it werent for the West, the world would be in the dark ages.

Re: Our Global Village

Yeah, this was theory that was put out a while back... Says that countries with harsh climate have to work harder to develop their societies... This hardwork leads to inovation etc etc...
Warmer areas tend to be lazy or they dont develop the community and integration that woud be implied in an area where the temperature is cold.
Makes some sense...

Re: Our Global Village

actually i think the social studies book attributed our high population growth rate to hot weather. used to be the subject of immense glee for a class of 14 year olds.

not really sure why now.

Re: Our Global Village

Why this hatred to modernism. Hasnt quality of life improved..

True there might be people who would prefer living in caves but majority of us prefer to be living in this century rather than in any other...

Re: Our Global Village

I love being a paindu.. aint nothing wrong with that.

Re: Our Global Village

Professionally, nope. Personally, nope. Politically...most DEFINITELY...I just don't think we've ever managed to develop a coherent polity based on consensus rather than coercion.

Re: Our Global Village

Dont know about that, this is wha I heard as far as that theory goes.. Has to do with agriculture and stuff...
Hot weather, hot blooded people... Its hot outside so put the panka on high and rock the boat baby:)
