Problem with our team is not of talent but of temprament. This is not the issue with the team only but with the whole nation. We think one day is the only cricket worth to watch. Who cares of test… We have the lowest number of spectators going to see a test match among all nations.
Now what happened after 12 years of constant ignorance to test cricket? Yes we dont produce any test cricket players. We have rwally good players for one day cricket but not for test.
See the comparison now. We played 32 test matches in last 5 years as compared to India who played 43.
11 macthes make a bit difference. They can be for training a new batsman or polish a bowler.
I just see no future of pakistan in test cricket. I have no hopes. But only prayers. This is our dilema.
Now I have just explained Why above.
This problem started when we first won the World cup in 1992. Since then we have forgotten test cricket.
Who to Blame:
We all as a nation as we really dont care of test cricket any more. (including me till i realize in this series)
Please share how you feel about test cricket and our future in test cricket. What can we do to preseve it.
Its a major waste of time playing a game for five days with high chances of neither team winning. People of mohali obviously have too much time on their hands that they went to see all five days of it. Pakistanis on the other hand value their time and like to get over with the game and get a result in one day, hence they like one day. :p
Okay so the game's been chopped from 5 days to 1 day. I just hope Hong Kong Sixes or Twenty20 doesnt become the thing of tomorrow because then that would be a real real shame.
By that token we should have been the second best (if not the best) ODI team. But this is not the case.
Our performances may have been somewhat better in ODIs but I guess there is a major room for improvement in both test as well as ODI performances.
But I would agree with the other assessment that as a nation we have an ODI temprament as compared to tests. This is also evident when a team visits Pakistan. Tests are witnessed by empty stadiums while we have full house for ODIs.
Personally I like tests more than ODIs because they contain more twists and are less predictable than ODIs. Also as opposed to ODIs, teams have a chance of making a comeback in second innings (the last comment is not particularly related to Pakistan's second inning fightback but is more of a generalization).
