Due to an intolerancy towards cows milk based formula milk by little girl is only able to drink soya based milk (prescribed by her dietician).
We are looking at visiting Pakistan when baby is around InshAllah 10-11 months so hopefully she will be taking solids such as scrambled eggs and so on.
My main concern is at home (UK) my little one will take soya milk yogurt, vegan cheddar cheese, non-dairy butter/alternatives. Is there anywhere in Karachi Pakistan I can get these items? I cannot expect my girl to avoid these foods for 6 weeks for which we are in Pakistan for.
An alternative I was looking at was taking the cheese and butter but I don’t think that’s recommended considering the amount of time the items will be without refrigeration?
Re: our daughter drinks soya milk...help with none dairy alternatives in Pak?
Princess I read the details on my daughter's formula tin it's made of cow milk :( but I am very sure that you will get formula based on soya milk here.
Can't you ask your relatives in the city you will be staying to ask a ped and get the name of soya based formula milk ? it will save you from hassle of searching and you will exactly know what to buy and from where to buy.
ok I have googled some for you. Now if you are coming to Karachi you will get cow & gates quite easily . All super markets have it and there is a super market here called “Imtiaz Store” there you will get so so many brands but it’s not easy to shop there but better send someone to get it for you.

Just take the soy formula that you use with you. Better not to risk it with other things. It won't hurt her not to have cheese etc for 6 weeks.
We are not risking her milk feeds as we are taking her formula. It's the restrictions on food which I'm concerned about considering we use alternative foods e.g. vegan cheese which contains no dairy plus butter, yogurts, sweet treats and d on.
Quick question about supermarkets?! Naheed Supermarket
Guys,
I'm still on the search for soya milk based products.
I have contacted a few supermarkets and was wondering if anyone can tell me how large is Naheed Supermarket? Is it a fairly big one where you could potentially get everything?
Reason I ask is they have informed me that I can get Soya milk (in tetrapacks) in Pakistan, but not any of the other items my child will need. If they are a leading supermarket and cannot get hold of items (maybe because there is no demand) I'm wondering if I would struggle to source the items from else where?
Re: our daughter drinks soya milk...help with none dairy alternatives in Pak?
^Yes, Naheed supermarket is one of the bigger ones in Karachi. I think you'll have better chances checking at Agha's and Paradise in Clifton, because that is where a lot of foreigners go to shop, so they usually have a better variety of such things... just a thought.
Re: our daughter drinks soya milk...help with none dairy alternatives in Pak?
soy milk is easy to find!!! you can take cheese/butter with you in your luggage.. hard cheese will not go bad during the travel time, you can refrigerate it as soon you get there. If you are concerned, you can use some ice packs as well but i dun think you need it!
Butter.. it doesn't go bad for weeks on kitchen counter so no worries about it!!!

Princess the soya based milk I mentioned in my earlier post (Cow & Gates) is very easy to find. Anyway I went yesterday to EBCO it’s a super market at Forum Mall in clifton and there were many formula brands over there too.
Another place where I am sure you will get the required formula is Imtiaz Store. It’s not easy to shop there as it’s always crowded but you will find literally all brands there. http://www.imtiazsupermarket.com.pk/ms/

As for taking things in my luggage, I've contacted two airlines-both of which have said I will need to open all sealed goods to be checked thus resulting in things going off sooner rather than later. Not happy with their response. Maybe it's just UK Airports that are weird about food?
Thank you for that Gemini-it's not just butter and hard cheese though. Little ones diet is completely dairy free-that includes yogurts.
I was given the impression by Naheed supermarket that apart from Milk, I will struggle to find other soya based items.
