Our BoSS to forum's:

Our good man Boss wrote recently wrote in a KK thread:

His complaint is only reaffirmed by the fact that we are midway through the third match of the series, and the PAK-NZL-ODI thread is already at the 32nd page (and it probably will have advanced by another five pages by the time I finish my post). There is no way to keep up with the pace (and depth) of this thread unless you are one of the contributors who are invariably maintaining the collective scorecard. And there is nothing wrong with that, as it keeps us all involved, but at the same time, reading about Farhat’s heroics from game two on page 1, leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you have just seen him getting out to a casual shot in game 3 (hypothetically speaking, of course). So how about allowing us to have a separate thread for each game, at least for the teams that have a strong following here (India, Pakistan) ?

I totally agree. Its really very hard to dig out stuff. There should be one thread for each match

I agree as well.

Heck yes!

After the match is over, and everyone has given their 2 cents, the thread should be closed, and new one be opened for the new match. At the end of the series one "kiya khoya - kiya paaya" thread will allow everyone to recap their conclusions and we will all move happily on with our lives. So at any given time we will only have one thread open for the Pak cricket-related series. For other sports and other teams, this should be decided on a case-by-case basis and the amount of interest and posts.

In anycase, right now we have Ind-Aus and Pak-Nzl series in different threads so the posts are split. When India comes to Pak, all guns will be firing here in one place, so I imagine number of pages per match will be twice if not more.

Ehsan bhai.. pls arzi qabool karein :)

i agree too, coz i face this problem too :(

It is your forum and the original idea of one thread was also on the suggestion of guppies. If you now feel that seperate threads should be started for each ODI and then it is fine with me. Lets open a new thread each for the remaining two ODI's.

thank you soooo much

i agreee toooo:D

well the original idea is btter I guess.. One can just see the date and time of post to know, where does the discussion is heading for.. I dont think its a good idea to open separate thread for each match. Just imagine how many matches we play.. and how many matches India play. it would be a bigger mixup I think..

May be I want t relate something from the previous game, do i have to go and copy paste everything from the other thread instead of just going on and quoting it..

I was the first one to voice opinion about that and I was called selfish by an Admin just for voicing my opinion :-)

Unfortunately the amount of posts generated by guppies these days is HUGE compared to previously. Suppose we have just one thread for all 5 ODI's and there are 75 pages in that thread... If someone wants to see articles or comments about just the 3rd ODI, that will be a long exercise. Heck, just the page numbering on top only shows, what... 8-9 page numbers at a time. So, moving back from the last page or moving forward from the first page, its still going to take a long time, plus the person has to keep reading and figuring out which match is being discussed. Had it been total of 4-5 pages for the whole 5 ODI's, its probably not that difficult.. but if each match is generating 5-15 pages... its becomes almost impossible to readily search through GS's archives.

BoSS i luv u man :k:

fanty

thank you Ehsan. I love you, I wanna have thousands of your babies.

Thank You Ehsan bhai :D

it's also a pity that there are SOOO many cricket threads, which on top of that are also placed as important. Maybe an idea to make the threads about others sports important, cuz the cricket thread will automatically stay on top, whereas a thread about eg the champion's league, or formula1 will be on page 10 when the next round of matches/GP starts

care to compare other sports popularity with Cricket on this forum? :)

My personal view is that threads should be designated as important, solely on the basis of how many members follow that sport and how relevant and timely the discussion is. This should not be taken as a compensation exercise that if a cricket thread is "Important" than a "Hockey" and a "F-1 racing" thread must be designated as important too. Personally I don't like to open a forum and find 3-4 threads stuck on top, bcz it makes it difficult to ascertain which threads have new replies and which are just stale.

$0.02 from my end.

and plz dont ban the 'scorecard' from the threads....
instead i suggest we have a couple of dedicated volunteers (say for each thread) who'll update the score on a regular basis (every 5 overs, fall of wicket, milestone etc etc)....
