It’s finally here! The Oscars! The red carpet superbowl! Yes, there were loads of beautiful, ultra-sparkly gowns, millions of dollars of jewels, and perfectly crafted updos. But there were also a lot of boring, tacky, and uninspired gowns. There was also an abundance of white dresses, a polarizing hue that made some actresses look like stunning angels and others look completely washed out. Behold, the very best and worst dressed of the night.
Re: Oscars Red Carpet: The Best and Worst Dressed
Best: Naomi Watts
Watts is always so fashion-forward, and her silver mega-sparkly Armani Prive gown was one of our favorites. The asymetrical cutout neckline is so futuristic and fits her body like a glove.

Best: Jennifer Lawrence
The best actress winner wore the most show-stopping gown of the evening: this white, Dior Haute Couture gown. The full skirt is stunning without being too princessy, and balances out the fitted top. We love that Lawrence kept the styling simple with just a long chain of Chopard diamonds cascading down her back. Yay, Jennifer! What a night!

Worst: Zoe Saldana
We love that Saldana takes risks, but this Alexis Mabille Couture dress missed the mark. The ombre tiers underneath, the cutout flowers up top, and the belt (with rivets!) was just too much.

Worst: Helena Bonham Carter
Everyone’s favorite weirdo swung by the Oscars in an ombre Vivienne Westwood dress. We appreciate that she marches to her own beat, but this dress looked like it was made by a “Project Runway” castoff. We prefer next-level crazy, not just a little bit strange.

Best: Jessica Chastain
Typically we prefer this best actress nominee in bold colors, but she was a slam dunk in this curve-hugging copper Armani Prive gown with pink beading. She said she picked it because “it’s a very ‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President’ dress,” and she loves that old Hollywood glamor. Her red lipstick and soft, Veronica Lake-esque hair definitely took it in am awesome retro direction.

Worst: Melissa McCarthy
As much as we adore this funny lady, her David Meister dress did nothing for her. The color, cut, draping, and crafty-looking patches of jewels were all unflattering. But worst of all was her hair. It’s scary.

Best: Reese Witherspoon
The actress chose this flattering Louis Vuitton dress with the help of her 13-year-old daughter Ava. Witherspoon said she loved the color, and amongst so many pale colored gowns we’d have to agree. Her gorgeous hairdo also was perfection.

Jennifer Lawrence was looking stunning!
Re: Oscars Red Carpet: The Best and Worst Dressed
Worst: Anne Hathaway
The best supporting actress winner looked so happy on her big night. She only selected this Prada gown three hours before showtime, but we wished she’d selected something less boring. The color didn’t work on her, the neckline felt very '90s to us (in a bad way), and the chest darts emphasized a certain part of the anatomy we wouldn’t opt to show off on stage. But we suppose she’s on to bigger and better things.

Best: Stacy Keibler
Somehow the former wrestler just shows up to the Oscars and shuts it down every year. We’re drooling over this metallic Naeem Khan dress, that further elongates her tall, svelte figure. We’d argue her date, George Clooney, was her best accessory

Worst: Jane Fonda
Oh, Jane, we love you and you look so phenomenal at 75 years old, but you don’t need to prive that in a blindingly yellow dress. And no, she didn’t just pull it out of her '70s wardrobe, it’s actually a new Versace gown.

Best: Charlize Theron
Theron also often nails it on the red carpet, so we were delighted to see her present tonight. Her white Dior couture peplum gown took on a futuristic vibe with her cropped hair.

Worst: Jennifer Aniston
Maybe a few tweaks would have helped, but we felt that this Valentino dress was wearing HER, and not the other way around. Also, we get it Jen, you’re known for your perfect hair, but how about brushing it? Or styling it in any way whatsoever?
