who won for best picture?

So "Gangs of New York" went away with nothing?

Oscars stink and I dont watch them. But I still happen to catch the part when Micheal Moore was giving his acceptence speech for Bowling for Columbine. I really loved it. That must’ve been the biggest highlight of the evening 'cuz the news channel and aol are still talking about it. :hehe:

CHICAGO

PyariCgudia: LOTR was nothin' in front of Chicago.

Btw, LOTR got two awards.

Usually Best Director and Best Picture goes to the same movie. Not last year and not this time too. Thats interesting.

Steve Martin made some funny comments (not all), but the one which I found hillarious (as it had nothing to do with politics and all) was when he pointed out that “This year’s Academy Awards are bring broadcast in High Definition Television, so ‘hello’ to the three guys watching this in the Circuit City” :hehe:

Best Actor went over his 45 secs to call for peace and got a standing ovation. Nicole was quite incoherent and so was the dude who read from his written speech for getting the best short feature film or something. Understandably English wasn’t his first language, so he should have stayed away from heavy words like “legality”

Adrian Brody rocked… :k: He is a New Yorker after all!!! :rotato:

chicago dekhni parey gi! :~)

Gangs of Newyork :(

But you are a Delhi Belly (new or old, doesn’t matter)

Welldone to Micheal Moore who spoke out against the war and for saying what’s the truth:

“Shame on you Bush!”

:k:

Martin cheers muted show

Here are some Steve Martin quotes:

  • **Nicole Kidman has worn a fake nose in every movie she’s ever made - except The Hours :rotfl:

  • “You probably noticed there was no fancy red carpet tonight. That’ll send them a message,”** he said, before adding that everyone had asked him to host the awards **“except France and Germany”. ** :rotfl:

  • “Roman Polanski is here - get him.” (during the opening speech.)

  • “Tell me whether you think this is fair - they made a great film that everybody liked.” (on Miramax’s Chicago campaign.)

  • “A lot of people here are wearing Armani - Sean was wearing red lobster.” (on Sir Sean Connery’s outfit.)

  • “Next year I will be starring in the Sherwin Williams story.” (on Frida winning Oscars, two years after Pollock also did so.)

  • “I would do anything to look like him - except exercise and eat right.” (on Gael Garcia Bernal.)

  • **“Someone I consider a close personal fantasy.” ** (on Julia Roberts.)

  • “Halle Berry is here, whose win last year broke down barriers for unbelievably hot women.” (on Halle Berry.)

  • “It really made me think - and for that I will never forgive her.” (on Meryl Streep’s performance in The Hours.)

  • **“When I heard that Richard Gere was not nominated for his great performance in Chicago, I said to myself, ‘Welcome to my world Richard’.” :hehe: ** (following on from Richard Gere.)

  • “I handed in a script last year and the studio didn’t change one word. The word they didn’t change was on page 87.” (introducing best adapted screenplay.)

  • “I have so many people to thank tonight, especially Steven Spielberg. Why? Because it can’t hurt.” (wrapping up the show.)

Adrian Brody is cool :k: He deserved this one. But i felt for Daniel-day leiws. He was amazing in GONY.

P.S Did anyone see the documentery feature film winner’s comments and gestures. He was quite awesome when he started calling Bush **'a fictituios person fighting a war for fictitiuos reasons. Shame on you Mr. Bush **. Audience were initially shocked, some theb booed but many clapped. That was courageous :k:

Lol
:hehe:
