"Osama and Katrina" - Tom Friedman

"Well, if 9/11 is one bookend of the Bush administration, Katrina may be the other. If 9/11 put the wind at President Bush’s back, Katrina’s put the wind in his face. If the Bush-Cheney team seemed to be the right guys to deal with Osama, they seem exactly the wrong guys to deal with Katrina - and all the rot and misplaced priorities it’s exposed here at home.
These are people so much better at inflicting pain than feeling it, so much better at taking things apart than putting them together, so much better at defending “intelligent design” as a theology than practicing it as a policy. "

Re: "Osama and Katrina" - Tom Friedman

yup....Friedman seems a bit more direct than usual but as usual makes sense. Bush needs some good advise and a fresh set of advisers. His current cabinet is totally dumbstruck and resemble Delh baboos than US Secretaries. Zero creativity, zero dynamism, zero positive attitude and sub-zero people empathy.

Condi is out buying shoes and then shoes up to take pictures, Rummy hasn't finished wiping his nose in months, Brownie is stale before being baked and the rest of the gang is reading NY Times for their schedule. Cheney is probably the only one doing something - making money in the oil market.

The borders are still vulnerable from the South, dollar is still on shaky grounds, latent inflationary pressures are about to burst open ignited by oil, winter is around the corner with no solution for natural gas shortage, Greenspan is busy divining what obfuscated bs he can utter next to please Bush and yet appear scholarly, Karl Rove is still not in jail, and the democrats are still the lowly yaller cowards who can't get one thing right.

Bush....when did you lose your leadership qualities?
